Both Danny and Adam surprised me with their dedication for the special edition challenge, as I call it. They were done with the concepts and the first drafts in just two days and stayed up all night till they reached the final drafts by the third day. I tried my best to keep up with their speed on the other side. In addition to continuing our duties as bridesmaid and men of honor.
Everything was ready just 4 days before Jess and Martin's rehearsal dinner. It meant only 5 days to their big day and 3 to ours, not our wedding but us announcing our engagement. It was also a big day for both companies and fashion houses. It was the launch of the special edition collection. It was everyone's idea to launch it before Jess and Martin's wedding, but not mine nor Adam's. We wanted to have no troubles to handle before their day, but Jess had another opinion as she said "I can't go on a honeymoon knowing that you guys are still suffering. If there is a fight, we should all fight together as we are all still here." Everyone agreed with her and honestly, we were secretly grateful for them.
Days went by so fast till it was the shooting day of the customs. Even Jessica wanted to have a couple of pictures with her wedding gown and rehearsal dress as a part of the collection. Although her wedding gown will remain a master piece, as Danny's wedding gift, we will have to design similar designs inspired by her gown. Frankly speaking, Jessica's gown couldn't be done again. Danny took weeks to come up with the concept with asking her family, friends and everyone who loves Jessica, even her students. Danny wanted it to be not just perfect, but Jessica-perfect. I even helped with the designs and created drafts, which I rarely did since I was responsible for the management side of the equation. Therefore, only Jessica could have such a gown, no one else.
"Perfect!" Sam, the photographer, commented as the camera clicked in her hands. "A little bit closer." Adam and I shifted positions until we were inches apart. The shooting was not only for the collection, it was also a part for a magazine reportage. Danny was being interviewed and it looked like a smoothly going one. He was even not calling for a-fashion-disaster-emergency one from his assistant to get him off it. So far, so good. It was also going to be after we drop the bomb, right?
"Hey! Focus, boss." Sam brought me back to reality and it seemed that I was lost in my thoughts for sometime.
"Hey. You okay?" Adam whispered to me the words, so I smiled and shifted to the next position. It was going to be okay. Adam was by my side, Jessica, Danny. They were all there. Yeah, Martin wasn't because he couldn't see Jess in her wedding gown before the wedding and he couldn't buy the magazine for a peek or see it online. I think Jessica was going a little crazy with the wedding approaching. Like she started crying over her little dirt on her rehearsal dinner's shoes, even though the assistant was getting it cleaned before her. I giggled at the scene and point it for Adam and he smiled at it as well.
"That's it!" I almost forgot that there were cameras with their lenses looking at us. "That would be enough." Sam said remarking the end of the photo shooting session and we were free to go.
"Thank you all. Good job." I praised everyone and so did Adam and he held my hand for the next part. The interview. Danny was still talking. He was trying really hard for this one, as it might be one of the last hopes to improve our branding after Tom's bomb.
"Hey, I think I might get used to hardworking Danny." I whispered to Adam, which made him giggle a little.
"Hey! I can hear you, you know?" He tried to sound offended. "I am always hardworking." He mocked.
"Yeah, sure." I mocked along. We all had an easy going interview the three of us, then Jessica joined us later."You are all friends, I assume?" The interviewer asked and we all nodded in confirmation.
"Actually we have been friends for years, except for Adam. We just became friends for a short time, but he is my fiancé's best friend for years too." Jessica tried to pave the way for us to drop the bomb.
"If my memory serves me well, I believe you two are dating?" The interviewer pointed at us and it was time. I put my hand on top of Adam's, showing the ring. "Actually we are engaged now." I said so confidently which made me thought for a while, that this voice was not mine. Adam landed his other hand on my shoulder for support. "Happily engaged." He added.
"Wow. Congratulations. When is the big day?" The interviewer's eyes went sparkly as soon as she heard the news. She wanted more. We both smiled out of politeness, but in fact we wanted to just flee out of here.
"We don't have one yet. Hence we are now focusing on our friends' wedding and our careers." I replied and Adam agreed to my words. Then Danny and Adam started linking the special edition idea to this announcement and how the idea came up. Skipping all the "surprise the media" part and turning it into "inspiration and love" part.
