The siblings held each other for what seemed to them like hours. When (Y/N) finally calmed Summer down, they separate and Summer looks up at her brother. "I missed you." she said. (Y/N) took off his mask so he could properly see his sister with his own eyes. It shocked Summer when she saw his face, but she didn't care. She was just glad that (Y/N) accepted her back as family.
"I hate to ruin the moment, but we should get moving." She hated it, but (Y/N) was right.
They walk along the path to see if they can find anymore houses.
"I told Mom and Dad about when I saw you back at Qrow's place." (Y/N) quietly sighed. "I'm sorry. But they really did miss you." (Y/N) didn't respond. "Will you go see them? At least tell them you're okay?"
There was silence for a few moments.
"I promise I will, eventually." This put a big smile on Summer's face. Finally, everything could go back to the way things were. Her family can finally be, well, a family again.
When the duo reaches another part of the island, they look through another set of houses. They split up this time since there were buildings on both sides of the road. These houses had the furniture scattered all over the place, like there was a fight.
When (Y/N) enters the last house on his side, he covered his nose from the smell. There was a pool of dried blood on the floor and the nearby furniture. Holes were pierced in the walls. Bones littered the floor. This wasn't the most horrific sight (Y/N) had seen, but it was on his top ten. He never got used to it.
"(Y/N)!" Summer shouts from behind him. "Did you find anything?"
"Don't come in here!" (Y/N) pushes her back.
"Why? What's in there?" Despite (Y/N)'s protest, Summer caught a glimpse of the carnage. "Oh my God!" Summer turned away from the house. Her hands covered her mouth, trying not to puke.
(Y/N) placed a hand on Summer's back. "Breathe, Summer. Just breathe." Once she calmed down, (Y/N) told her to wait outside while he searched the house. She did as she was told and patiently waited for him.
The rest of the house was just like the front room, blood and bones everywhere. There were even pieces of flesh hung to dry like clothes. (Y/N) wasn't sure before, but he knows now that whatever killed these people was no wild animal; it was an intelligent creature. It was so intelligent, it had preferences on the food it ate. I'm this case, it didn't like blood in its meat.
"(Y/N)!" Summer called from outside. "Are you okay?!"
Her voice startled (Y/N) out of his horrified thoughts. "Y-Yeah! I'll just be a second!" He responded. There was something about the house that bugged him. Where was the basement? Every other house he had searched had a hatch with a ladder on the other side, but if this house had one, it was concealed. He lifted every rug off the ground, including the one under the table. That's where the hatch was. He was hit with a smell that was worse than what was already in the house when he opened it. He couldn't see anything, just darkness. He could've used his lighter to See down there, but he thought he could live without seeing it. He went outside to tell Summer about what he found. When he explained, she looked like she was trying not to puke again.
"We should go get Qrow and Tai." Summer suggests.
"You're probably right." Right when (Y/N) says this, he sees something over Summer's shoulder. A projectile. (Y/N) grabs Summer and throws her to the side. His right wrist blade ejects out of the top of his wrist and uses it to block the object. Summer sees this and takes out her scythe and gets into a fighting stance.
"What was that?" Summer asks.
"I have no idea." (Y/N) scans the direction where the object came from. He couldn't see anything that would've launched it. Then he saw it. It was only for a second, but he saw a black outline of a person. He pulls the rifle from his back and aims it. "Summer." (Y/N) says to get her attention. "Get ready to fight. If something happens to me, use your semblance and go find the others."
