THE GRASSY KNOLLS,
West of Bethesda,
2420 A.A."
What did you mean by-" Moriella began to question but was silenced by the appearance of the captain who was advancing towards them with a glowing tablet in his hands. Behind him the backdrop of a grassy plain could be seen. Going all the way as far as the eye could see to the North and to the South as well. To the West, it still flowed. Up until it reached the dark edge that was a line of trees that marked the end of the grassy knolls that carried the remnants of Havillah's particular energy.
The Captain was coming to bring them an update. She knew this and for a moment, Moriella pushed aside her concerns for the much anticipated information on the whereabouts of her friend.
"You were right my Lady." The Captain began to say even as Cjaira tried and failed to choke back the snort at the way he was now addressing their Elder.
Moriella as well could not understand the reasoning behind the sudden shift, when all along he had been okay with addressing her as madam, the weird human expression that she had heard being thrown around and about their command centre. Not that the Elder Tamaar seemed mind, but it was too much for Cjaira who was once again baring her fangs at the Captain.
Moriella was aware of her feelings. They both wondered about his intentions now that he was sucking up to the good Elder.
"We were able to track down the energy prints all the way to the edge of that forest, but after that, the trail gets cold. We do not have any pillars out there as that is no longer our territory. However, if we can get close enough, we can attempt send in our surveillance drones to scope out the area." The man continued after a moment of hesitating and Moriella noticed how it pleased Cjaira to know that she affected him.
This girl! She shook her head in disbelief. Wasn't she tired of getting scolded. Up until now, the Elder had remained quiet and it made her wonder what she was giving about. Was she feeling remorse after abandoning the Dove Palace? It was hard to tell as her face was always schooled, hiding the emotions that she knew were raging within.
A forest. Moriella mused even as her thoughts went back to her friend and the puzzle of who it was that was helping her. She wondered if Cjaira thought about it. With her impulsive nature, she appeared to most like she was not capable of it, but Moriella knew otherwise. She had seen it back at the Mane Palace and it made her wonder what else the girl was cooking up in that young mind of hers. Did she even understand half of that jargon the man was spewing? Drones? What on earth was that? She could she the questions in her eyes and Moriella almost laughed at the face she was now making. Cjaira would never ask for fear of looking less intimidating.
Moriella sighed. She was just the same. For fear of ruining the Elder's plans, she would never question his intentions out loudly. She could not tell if that was because cowardice or her overtly careful nature. Whichever it was, Moriella would make sure to worry enough for the three of them. For all they knew, Havillah was all alone with the odds stacked against her. She was never one to live carefully and because of that, it bothered her that she had wandered this far and from the only people that knew her? Her rescuing of the Captain must have at least meant something. She thought as her eyes trailed over to the arrogant sergeant who seemed to be watching their little group with annoyance and a hint of disgust in her eyes.
Was the Elder doing the right thing to trust them? She could only hope that the humans were more grateful than the Great, otherwise, who knew what sort of trap they were walking into.
As she thought this, her gaze slowly shifted to look at Cjaira. Maybe there was a reason why Havillah ran away and Moriella hated to think that by doing this, they were helping out Havillah's enemies by leading them straight to her.
