Havillah looked down at the brown robes in her hands. What had just happened? She lifted her gaze and looked at the woman now slumped against the wall, eyes closed and seemingly unconscious.Had she done that?"I am so sorry." the words left her mouth in a whisper.

Why? Why was this happening? Tears welled up in her eyes. What had she done to deserve this? She cursed her luck as she took a step backwards as if to evade it all. What was she to do now when she could not begin to understand the events of the last few moments? All her experience as a Great failed her, but then again, all she knew was what she had amassed for just twenty years. Which in Great years was not that much. She was still a novice but even then, such knowledge should have been readily available to the likes of her, an Appriser's apprentice.

Another step backward but then she stopped realising what she was currently doing. No she could not run away. To do so would be absolutely evil. Especially after the kindness that the old lady had shown her.The least she could do was to try and help. Maybe that would be enough to cancel everything, but even as she finished thinking so, she knew that that was hardly possible.

"I am so sorry." Finally Havillah took a step forward and all eyes present turned to her with gazes filled with terror. She had done that. She reprimanded herself. Paid their kindness with evil, but really what kind of mischief was this? She did not know anything, still, she covered her face in shame and at the horror before her eyes."I am sorry," she said again and tried to draw closer to the still form that was Selene unconscious on the brown carpet. Her back was propped up against the wall. Her hands limp on both her sides and her eyes, closed behind a curtain of thick wavy hair. It was possible that she was gone. The thought certainly crossed her mind but Havillah countered it with her own mumbling. She could do it. She could do something to help. She mumbled as she moved closer to the woman, but suddenly, Neema Lithewood was in her way.

"No Havillah!" Killion's mother prevented her. The initial shock of the occurrence having slipped away and even now, she was moving forward to check on Selene's unconscious form."It is better that you do not touch her again." She added albeit in a much careful tenor that cautioned Havillah of her misgivings about her. Did she really think that she had willfully attacked her? Well, this was not the time to defend herself. Havillah stepped back, resolving to look on in quiet acquiescence. After all, it was arrogant of her to think that they did not have ways to deal with this. With the technology that she had witnessed in the hub, it was clear that humans had come a long way from what the Great one thought they were."Another thing. I think you should leave." Neema added as she checked her wrists and neck for what she assumed was her pulse. "For now, be grateful she is still alive, but she catches you..."

Alive! Her words jarred hope in Havillah's heart and crushed her at the same time. Leave? Where was she to go on this God-forsaken land? She knew no one and if the terrors came who would defend her. There were more than dragons out there and she was sure that Grabriel could not be convinced to accompany her after she had done this."I do not understand ?" she whispered turning to the old lady.

"Make yourself scarce. That is what I meant to tell you. " The younger lady, Killion's mother told her even as the old lady placed a soft comforting hand on Havillah's, one that Havillah stared at in her confusion.

"But I could help." she tried again even as she turned a wary eye at the still form that was subject of Neema Lithewood's ministrations.

"Good heaven's no! Don't you think you've done enough here?" Neema raised her voice harshly and was answered by a look that seemed to suddenly calm her. Were they that wary of her? Even the old lady? She had seen the warning in her eyes as she cautioned her daughter." I mean, she's breathing," Neema corrected her tone. "but nothing I have done so far has been able to revive her." She attempted to explain herself. "I may have to call for help and like I have already told you, it would be wise for you to make yourself scarce. It is the only repayment we can offer you."
