Wednesday was Felix’s favourite day.
On Wednesdays he could start off his day with his favourite subject, French. As the door opened he felt a tinge of enthusiasm, knowing he'd get to see Clai-
..Miss Sky again.
But..
The person who walked in definitely wasn’t his favourite teacher.
“Hello kids, your teacher couldn’t make it today so I will be your substitute for the day.” The middle aged man smiled awkwardly.
Felix frowned.
What happened? This wasn't the Claire he knew. She would never miss a class unless it was extremely important.
Was she okay?
Either way, all he could do right now was just focus on this class. He could try to find out what happened to her later.
But time just wasn't on his side today.
It went by too damn slowly. He impatiently tapped his foot on the floor, watching the classroom's clock.
8:47.
8:48.
8:49.
"Is everything okay, Lix?" Seungmin asked, noticing how anxious his friend had become.
"H-huh?" Felix asked, snapping out of his thoughts, his trembling leg stopping for a bit.
"Is this because Miss Sky couldn't make it to class today?" Felix's friend asked, worried.
The bell rang.
A sigh of relief escaped Felix's lips as he put his books right back into his bag, signaling Seungmin to follow him.
"Yesterday we were together and she was fine." Felix quietly explained once the two boys found some privacy.
"Okay, so what's the problem then?" Seungmin asked, as confused as ever.
"I- I don't know, I'm just worried. Yesterday she was pretty tired when she left and I’m just-”
“Oh god” His eyes widened. "What if she didn't make it home safely?"
“Should I call her? I’ll call her!” The boy frantically searched through his pockets for his phone.
Upon grabbing it, his trembling fingers fumbled, desperate to find her contact as soon as possible.
He pressed the call button.
Seungmin could only watch in awe as his friend anxiously waited for the teacher to accept his call. One beep. Two beeps. Three-
"She's not picking up the phone!" He whined, clearly stressed out.
"I'm sure everything is fine, Felix. She just missed the first period, it's not like she's dead-" Seungmin tried to reason with his friend, but he wasn't having it.
“Oh my God, Seungmin! Don’t say she’s dead!” Felix said through gritted teeth, pressing the call button one more time.
“Okay, okay sorry! Calm down.”
They waited in silence, Felix’s blood pressure rising every passing second, every time he heard that damn beep sound.
But again, Claire didn't pick up.
And then the bell rang.
"Let's go, Lix." Seungmin said, dragging the boy to their next class since he was almost frozen from stress.
