A couple days have passed since we figured out that Céleste would be 'returning' to the land of the living. I haven't told my father or anyone that she has returned and has been a constant pain in my side since she died about 2 centuries ago. I have to figure out what she is planning and stop her before she is successful since the last time I really talked to her she wants to bring hell to my family since Nik is the one that got her killed. While this was happening I spent time with Hayley at the plantation really getting to know her since I snapped again when I was at the compound. The more I learned about Hayley the more I felt connected to her and the worse I felt for her knowing that I had the chance to get to know her parents but I didn't. It is also in this time that I let her know about her family, at least what I did know and she is somewhat satisfied about this. I told her that once things calmed down a bit I would take her to the Bayou to her pack. Meanwhile, I have Caun leave and go to the compound to aid my family in whatever they need as I watched Zoie. Speaking of which, Zoie told Hayley about the baby which freaked her out until I explained to her that it was all the witches not me. Once Hayley understood everything she swore not to tell anyone since she realises that nobody, not even my brother or Josh know about this.
Overall the time is great until Caun showed up and informed me that Nik has requested my presence in the compound. I sighed slightly saying goodbye to the two pregnant girls before making my way to the compound finding my uncle in one of the living rooms. I plop down on the couch next to him with a sigh, "and why am I being summoned here when I could still be a high threat of killing each and everyone of you."
"Davina-" my uncle is cut off by a scream then the compound shaking like an earthquake just hit and I sigh, "young, old, dead or alive, witches are a pain in my ass," Nik says standing up and leaving.
"Love ya too," I say sarcastically before he leaves the room. I turn my full attention to my father and lean forward to be closer to him, "we need to complete the harvest. Davina thought she could wait it out but the ancestors are not having it anymore, not to mention her being alive throws off the balance of nature," this earns a confused look from my father, "she has too much power, and she can't control it, trying to help her only prolonged the inevitable. Esther created vampires the witches created me by letting me keep my witch powers and that is the balance to vampires. With Davina having this much strength it's throwing off the balance my existence creates so it will kill her. We need to stop it before she takes down this entire city with her."
"And how do we do that?" my father questions.
"I become an elder and finish the harvest," I tell him sensing a presence behind me.
"Like hell you are, you aren't even a New Orleans witch," I turn to see Sophie standing in the door.
"Who gave the New Orleans witches the name? Who gave them the fame? Who made the French Quarter a tourist attraction for magic?" I could see it on her face that she didn't know, "Me, I made this city what it is for the witches so I am the only one that should assume a role as elder. Not to mention, I was actually nominated to do the harvest this year but I denied it, so why don't you leave and let me do what I need to do," I motion to the door and when she doesn't move I speed over to her catching a whiff of dirt, "what have you done?" I ask and when she doesn't answer I grab her and speed off to Rousseau's back alley dropping her, "start talking."
"The harvest needs to be complet like you said, I dug up Céleste's body to channel her energy," Sophie informs me.
"There is no way you found her body, my father buried her in a very specific location where he is the only one that knew where she is at- well except for me," I say taking dangerous steps towards the young witch causing her to step back against the wall, "so how the hell did you find her body?" when she didn't answer I grab her throat choking her when my phone rang, "what?" I ask aggressively.
