She headed into the shuttle first, after catching the eye of a relieved Captain Pike. Jim followed shortly after and after forgetting to bend down hit his forehead on the ceiling. He sat down next to his sister,  and began to buckle up.  He noticed Uhura behind him,  and tried to flirt with her.
"I never did catch your name, " he told her. Both Uhura and Serenity rolled their eyes at him.
"And you're never going to get it." Uhura replied. Serenity chuckled.
"Jim, you might want to stop while your ahead." Serenity told him. She noticed he was exhibiting his normal behaviors, being bored and distracted. While Serenity began to evaluate her surroundings, a man was arguing with an instructor,  who eventually lost the argument and sat down next to Jim. Kirk tried to reassure him it was OK,  and Serenity turned her attention to the man. She held out her hand to shake his.
"I'm Serenity Valentino. Nice to meet you." The man took her hand and soothing feelings flowed through, calming the man slightly.
"The name's McCoy. Leonard McCoy," he told her. She nodded, then returned back to her evaluations. Jim introduced himself as Serenity's younger brother. After listening to McCoy's story,  the siblings decided his nickname would be Bones.

At Serenity's own request,  she took some classes, but whatever grades she had wouldn't count,  of course,  because of who she was.  Serenity Valentino was an Admiral after all,  as well as the highest Admiral.  Two years later, Serenity and Bones were walking through the school campus, and Serenity was wearing one of her favorite Steampunk outfits. A certain pointed eared teacher saw this,  and aimed to correct it.  He followed them and he called out to Serenity. She sighed and told Bones to keep going, and to save her something from the cafeteria. Lately  more than a few teachers had had a problem with her preferred attire.  She turned around to face him and their eyes met.  His smooth chocolate eyes vs her swirling dark brown and gold irises. The world suddenly stood still. Birds were half way in flight, the trees stuck midway in swaying with the now none existent breeze. He could feel something in his mind, and he could see her soul, and suddenly the melody of life began.
"Hello, my mate." She spoke with a voice  so soft and angelic. Serenity stood there softly watching him, as if etching his face into a memory.  She suddenly shook her head and blinked,  and the world resumed it motion.  Confused and slightly frightened,  he left without a single word.  Puzzled,  Serenity watched him go,  but his brown eyes were forever burned into her mind.
