11. He cares.

Jason

The bell rang, I got out of my biology class and found Serena waiting for me outside."Hey." she smiled."Hi." I forced myself to grin even though I was falling to pieces."So, I thought that it would be a good idea if we went to our cabin tonight." she suggested and intertwined our fingers. Truth to be told I didn't want to go near that cabin ever again."I don't know, I have a lot of homework for tomorrow." I lied and tried to sound convincing."I don't want to corrupt you but I really want to do dirty stuff with you." I caressed her pretty face. She is such an amazing girl.
"I love you." I was honest with her, I really did love her. She doesn't deserve this, I'm a fucking prick."I know." she nodded."But I don't think I can." she frowned. If I was going to break up with her, I would have to put some space between us."You've never turned me down before." she raised her brow." I'm not turning you down, I'm just busy." she sighed defeated she knew something was up.
"What's wrong with you Jason?" she asked sounding worried and a little angry at the same time."Nothing is wrong with me." I lied."Don't you trust me?" she asked me and I shook my head."Of course, I do." she looked at me obviously irritated."Then why don't you tell me what's going on? You look like you haven't slept all night Jason and you're moping around." I laughed bitterly she knew me so well.
"Something happened to the pack." she raised her brow."So, you actually don't trust me. You're hiding the things that happen to your pack from me? Since when?" I took a deep breath."Serena, it's not that I don't want to tell you, it's just really complicated. When the right time comes I swear I'll explain everything to you." she bit her lip.
"I don't want you to struggle alone." I felt horrible."Even if I told you, you wouldn't be able to help me." one lie left my mouth after another, it was disgusting."You don't know that." she said softly and I kissed her cheek."Yes, I do and I actually have to handle this on my own." I explained and she rolled her eyes.
The bell rang once again and I went to my next class. I couldn't concentrate on anything but Karma's faint scent in the building. I couldn't believe that I put her through such a traumatic experience. I had hit rock bottom. I was lying to my girlfriend which I loved and I had scared the girl that I was supposed to marry to death. I couldn't have handled things worse.
At lunch, Noah was trying all the time to cheer me up but nothing was working. I just waited to catch a glimpse of her so that my day would become a little better."At least eat your food."Natalie was looking at me with her nose scrunched up."I'm not hungry." I said plainly."What happened to him? He looks awful."Natalie asked Noah and he shrugged."When he is ready he will tell you."Noah told her and she nodded.
That was when I smelled her and my heart jumped. She was talking with Syndey when she walked into the cafeteria. I knew I was staring but I couldn't take my eyes off her, her hair was styled in a ponytail and I could see clearly her beautiful face. I'm in so much trouble. I felt sorry for myself. When her eyes fell on me she looked away immediately. I couldn't blame her though, I would I hate me too.
"Dude are you alright?"Noah's voice brought me back to reality."Honestly? I want to kill myself." everybody looked at me in disbelief."What the hell happened to you? If it's that bad I have to know."Serena sounded heartbroken."I'm a fucking failure that's what happened." she grabbed my face."You are no such thing Jason Moonstone." she said sternly."Yeah, we will see about that." I got up from the table."Where are you going J?"Natalie asked me worried."To the bathroom, I need to pee. Don't worry, I'm not killing myself this time." she rolled her eyes."I hope so J because you might be annoying but deep down I kinda like you." she smirked."I know you do, you little bloodsucker." I smiled at her before I left.
When I got inside the bathroom I saw Leo making out with a girl. He had her pinned up against the wall and she was grabbing his hair with the one hand and his ass with the other. It pissed me off the fact that he forgot about Karma so easily.No one forgets my mate so easily. The girl moaned and I cringed."I'm sorry to interrupt but this is the boy's bathroom and I need to piss so can you choke on each other's tongues somewhere else?" Leo took a step back. The girl started taking big gasps of air. He was actually choking her.
"He is right, let's go somewhere else." the girl said breathlessly."It smells in here baby." she added and Leo chuckled."Come on sunshine." he told her and headed towards the door, he opened it for the girl and when she walked out of the bathroom he closed the door and locked it."What you'll try to make out with me too Leo? Thanks but I'll pass." he cocked his brow.
"How stupid can you be?" he asked and his voice sounded way more serious than usual. Leo's tone is playful most of the time but he sounded different."Leo, I'm not in the mood for one of your games. If you haven't noticed I'm a fucking mess." he clenched his jaw."And whose fault is that?" he questioned accusingly."What do you know Leo?" I asked and he crossed his arms."I know that yesterday a fifteen-year-old girl came to my house bleeding. She was scared to death." he growled angrily.
"How is she?" my heart started to beat like someone was hunting me, probably my guilty conscious."Oh now you care?" he said sarcastically."I always cared. I'll never forgive myself. I had to Leo. You know what will happen if I break up with Serena." I spat and ran a hand through my hair."Yeah, you have to but you returned to save her. Why?" I laughed sadly."Why do you think? I couldn't do this to us. My feelings for her are really strong." he smirked."I knew it." I wanted to hit him."How the mighty have fallen." he looked at me smiling."Stop making fun of me you bloodsucker." I spat.
"I suggest to speak nicer to me if you want my help that is." he smirked. That devious creature."Fine." I spat, I would do anything for Karma and he might be actually able to help."Listen to me, loverboy, your girl doesn't even want to look at you right now." I felt my heart sinking. I deserved it though."She hates me." I looked at my shoes embarrassed. She is angry Jason and she has every right to be." he said once again in a serious tone and I nodded.
"You'll take her away from me." I could feel my eyes burning, I wanted to cry."Even if I wanted to, I don't think I can."I gave him a weird look."Last night she confessed something to me. She is into you. She didn't say much but from experience, I can tell you that she has the biggest crush on you. Give it time. Soon enough you'll be all over each other." my heartbeat started raising."Really?" my hazel eyes were filled with hope. "She is not going to forgive you easily but she is a very tough girl your mate, she can take shiitake good care of her." he unlocked the door."That's the only thing I want to do." I said honestly.
"You know what that means though...Neither Serena nor her daddy will take that lightly." I was more than aware when it came to that."We're going to war twice this year." I pinched the bridge of my nose."Twice?" he asked cocking his brow."This full moon we're fighting against the rogues." he gave me a sympathetic look."I hope it goes ok." I nodded.
"The fact that I might have to face Serena in the battlefield is scarier than any of these rogues. I don't want to do it. I love her." he laughed."Well, you'll have a hard time trying to convince her that you love her when she finds out about Karma."Leo scoffed."It's not funny you bastard." he cocked his brow."She'll lose her shit when you'll tell her." he bit his lip because he knew that a smile would agitate me."I wish I knew it sooner. That Karma is my mate, I mean." he nodded."That would be so helpful. Don't try to talk to Karma yet, she isn't ready." he walked out of the bathroom.
I went back to our lunch table and sat down."Why it took you so long?"Natalie asked me."Your brother was making out with a girl inside the bathroom." my eyes searched the room for my mate."Oh, of course, Leo does that all the time." she said sounding uncomfortable."She was ready to do it with him. It was disgusting." I spotted my mate sitting on a table with her friends."I totally agree with you."Natalie said plainly. I concentrated on their table trying to hear what they were talking about but it was hard. I just wish she'd let me explain everything...

Karma
"So what were you doing yesterday? I called you like one hundred times and you weren't answering."Sydney demanded to know and I sighed."I was with Leo." both girls looked at me surprised."I can't believe it! After what he did to you?"Sydney looked at me with disbelief. We walked inside the cafeteria an immediately my heart started to beat louder. I could feel him staring at me and I was fighting the urge to stare back. I'm pissed with myself because even after what he did to me I still like it when i fell his gaze on me.
"Well, I gave him another chance." I told them even though the truth was that was forced to talk to him because of my near-death experience. "Don't forget what I told you about him."Sydney said."I know that he is a womanizer." she snorted. I could still feel his eyes on me and for a few seconds, I gave in and looked at him. I could feel my cheeks heating up and immediately I looked away. Why does he even have an effect on me? Am I a masochist or something?
"Yes you might know it but I don't think you understand that he will dump you."Sydney sounded a little worried."Don't worry, Sydney, I'm not getting involved with him romantically." Kendra giggled."That's what Sydney said when she met him and then she dated him."Kendra informed me."So, don't make the same

mistake I did and cut ties with that son of a bitch." for the first time I saw a caring and protective side of her."Don't worry about me I'm not into Leo anymore." I said honestly, I was into a way worse guy and I hated myself for it.
My eyes darted on the table that he was sitting again but he wasn't there. I've hit a new low. I started to realize that Leo knew what he was talking about, I couldn't ignore him."She sounds sincere."Kendra pointed out."Well, you believed me too when I said the same thing and then I had sex with that ugly pig." I looked at Sydney straight in the eye."I'm not sleeping with Leo, relax. We're just friends." I told them truthfully. Even if he didn't, I thought of him as a friend."I believe her."Kendra announced and Sydney had no other choice but to believe me too.
With the corner of my eye, I saw Jason coming back to the cafeteria. Even if I hadn't seen him though I could feel his presence. I wondered, could he feel mine?"There's something wrong with him today."Sydney said referring to Jason."Yeah, he looks awful."Kendra agreed."I heard rumors that he did something bad and highly regrets it."Sydney said plainly and I took a good look at Jason who actually looked really sad. My stomach turned when and a small smile appeared on my lips. He actually cared about me. Then his beautiful hazel eyes looked at me and I looked at my lap right away, My face was turning bright red with embarrassment."He is looking at our table smiling."Kendra was obviously weirded out."It's because he has a crush on me." Sydney toyed with her hair. He saw me looking and now he is smiling. I have a serious effect on him.
