Karma
"So, should I come and pick you up after practice?"Leo asked and smiled widely."I still haven't said yes." I pointed out and he rolled his eyes."Come on now, Karma, I just want to go to the movies with you. I promise that I'll be a perfect gentleman." he assured me and I smiled. I wasn't sure that going to the movies with him was right. After all, I was into another guy, a guy that every day since the night we talked he kept saying good morning to me.
"Fine, I'll go to the movies with you, Leochu." I agreed. I don't think anyone has ever thought a better nickname than that."First of all, I'm so happy that you'll go and see a movie with me but what the fuck is Leochu?" he asked."It's your new nickname. A combination of Leo and Pikachu and believe me it suits you." I said and he smiled."It's the first time that someone has given me a nickname like that. I like it even if it sounds a little stupid." he confessed."Well, it sounds cute." I shrugged and then we headed to our last class for that day.
I and Leo agreed that he would pick me up after practice, that he would drive me home, that I would shower and change from my cheer-leading uniform to normal clothes, that we would head to the movies and that I would choose a movie for us to see. It sounded like a nice plan. I was happy. I mean which girl wouldn't be happy if a boy like Leo looked so interested in her.
I knew that he wasn't that interested in reality but still he made me feel a little special. Besides like I've said before I wasn't a saint either. I was into Jason. Not that anything would ever happen between him and me, it was just a stupid crush and I would have to let it fade away. I guess Leo could and would be happy to help with that.
I went into the locker room and changed into my uniform. I always tried to be one of the first ones to change because I felt kind of weird knowing that all these other girls could see my body. It was kind of stupid I know but I couldn't help it. I felt extremely self-conscious and uncomfortable. I'm not ugly, I know that but I wasn't like the other cheerleaders. All of them looked flawless and compared to them I felt like a potato. That's why I was so surprised that Leo even bothered to look at me.
When I was done changing I went and sat on the bleachers and waited for the rest of the girls to come. The huge door of the court opened and Jason, with his friend Noah and another guy, came inside. When he saw me he smiled widely. He came and sat next to me. My heart started to beat a little faster."Why are you on your own?" he asked me."Because I came really early apparently." I shrugged."That's fine I'll keep you company. How was your day?" he started a small talk."It was fine, I was hanging out with Sydney and Kendra most of the time but I talked with Leo too." he frowned a little when I mentioned Leo but then quickly changed his expression.
"How is it going with him?" he seemed curious."Fine I guess, today I kind of agreed to go on a date with him." he was the first person I told."Oh, a date, that's nice." he ran a hand through his hair."I'm not sure I did the right thing though." his eyes met mine and I bit my lip. He had really nice eyes, they changed color depending on the angle you were seeing them.
"Why?" he inquired and I sighed."Do you remember when I told you that I was home schooled until the beginning of this year?" I asked him and he nodded."Well, before coming to this school I had only three friends and they were girls. What I am trying to say is that I have no experience with boys. I've never liked a boy, I've never been on a date with a boy, I've never kissed a boy. Leo might be fun to be around but he just wants to have his way with me and I don't want my first experiences with a boy to be so meaningless. I like him and all but it doesn't sound like me to start doing stuff with him." I tried to explain my situation the best way I could.
He looked at me wide-eyed."I don't even know why I am telling all this." I said honestly. It was so extraordinary for me to open up like that."How can you be so damn amazing?" he took me by surprise. I think he was surprised that he said something like that too."Um, what I wanted to say was that most girls at your age wouldn't think like that." he made me blush."Thank you I guess." I started to play with my hair nervously.
Then most of the cheerleaders came inside the court and practice started. I tried my hardest not to look at him and to forget that he called me amazing a few minutes ago. My heart was still beating loudly though."Girls, I think it's time to show you our new routine."Natalie announced and some girls squealed happily."Music please."Natalie said and Kendra pushed the cd player's play button. Natalie then started to dance Circus by Britney Spears like a professional dancer. She was hypnotizing. The choreography and the song suited her character and appearance perfectly.
After a few minutes, she stopped dancing and we were all looking at her stunned. Even some of the basketball players noticed her and whistled. My eyes met Jason's and once again I looked away. Why do our eyes always meet?"Let's give the basketball players a show."Natalie smiled slyly."Kendra and Karma come with me." I looked at the beautiful blonde surprised."Sydney, when I tell you can you please push the play button?"Natalie asked and Sydney looked like she was ready to kill her.
We followed Natalie who stopped right in front of the basketball team. Most of the boys were looking at us, I didn't care about the other boys though, I cared about Jason and that bothered me."Don't worry you got this."Natalie smiled at me."Sydney, the button. Girls follow my lead and Karma try and be more feminine."Natalie instructed and we nodded.
The music started to play and I tried to do whatever Natalie was doing, she danced way better than me though. I followed her advice and made my moves more feminine. I'm pretty sure I made a few mistakes but I was satisfied with myself. When the song was over both the basketball team and the cheerleaders were applauding us. My cheeks were hot and I was smiling.
"Natalie marry me." a guy from the yelled said and we giggled."Hey what's your name?" another one asked loudly. Is it possible that he is talking to me?"You on the left, what's your name?" he is actually referring to me."Karma." I replied hesitantly and even though I shouldn't I searched the room for Jason. His back was turned and Noah was talking to him looking worried.
What's up with him?
"You're so pretty Karma..." the boy who asked my name said and came closer to me."Back off Jackson." a familiar voice said and my head snapped towards it."Hey Leo." I waved smiling at him."Come on your ride is here clumsy one." he gave me a really warm smile. I approached him and smiled back at him."You're a lucky guy, Leo." the guy who Leo previously called Jackson said."I know I am." the blonde prince winked at him."Good luck, manwhore." Leo pretended to be offended for a few seconds at what the guy said but then he broke into laughter."Fuck off, asshole."Leo told Jackson."Let's go." he motioned me to follow him and I nodded.
Before we left though I looked at the place that Jason was before but no one was there. Is he sick or something? He looked fine before though. My heart was beating loudly because I was worried about him. I should have asked him before what was wrong with him but I didn't have the guts to do it. I took a deep breath and tried to convince myself that he was fine.
