The bell rang signaling the end of the biology class. I grabbed my stuff and headed towards my locker to put them inside. That's when I saw Sydney and Kendra coming towards me. Sydney looked awful, her skin was pale, there were purple bags under her and eyes who had a blood-shot red color."Hey, are you alright?" I asked concerned."No, I'm not." she answered her voice breaking. It looked like she was trying her hardest not to cry.
"Um, if you tell me the problem, I might be able to help." the girl grimaced and shook her head."Kendra can you explain to her...I think I'll break down if I talk about it." she said weakly and Kendra nodded."Her cousin, Alan, was found dead. His body was found in a town near, drained from blood. They suspect an animal attack." Kendra explained and I looked at her in total and utter shock.
"He was murdered."Sydney stated. From the sound of it, there was a chance she was right. A vampire could be responsible for that."Honey, that can't be proven."Kendra ran her fingers through Sydney's messed up hair. "What kind of animal can drink so much blood?"Sydney asked angrily."Sydney, do you realize what you're saying?"Kendra whispered."Yes, I do.I'm telling you, something killed him. It wasn't neither an animal nor a human." I looked at the girl who was grieving with wide-open eyes. Does she know?
"Listen, I understand..."Kendra began to say but Sydney interrupted her."No, unfortunately, you don't. My cousin was sure. My cousin told me that he was sure that one of his friends wasn't human. He told me, Kendra. He told me that this guy with the blonde hair and blue eyes was a vampire and all I did was make fun of him. He is dead now because I didn't listen to him." at that moment I was convinced that a vampire killed her cousin."Look, stay away from this guy. He might actually be dangerous." I said seriously."Karma, not you too."Kendra glared at me but I completely ignored her.
When it was time for lunch I found Leo waiting for me outside my class."Hey there, Leochu." he knitted his brows."You don't sound very good." he pointed out."Well, something terrible has happened to a Sydney and since I learned about it I can't help but feel a little sad." he nodded understanding. I was actually really sad to hear about Sydney's loss, I knew the kind of pain she was into and It was horrible.
"What happened to her?" he asked with actual concern in his voice."I can't tell you.I'm sorry." he shook his head."You shouldn't be apologizing, you're doing the right thing." he sounded sincere."If you want to find out you'll have to ask her yourself." I told him and he nodded."I will and I might use a little bit of my magic to cheer her up." I giggled."You have magic too?" I arched my brow."Not exactly. One day, I'll explain it to you properly but we don't have time now." He patted me on the back.
"You know, Sydney isn't the only one with a bad mood today." he mentioned and I rolled my eyes."If you're talking about Jason, he deserves it." I scoffed."He might deserve it you're right but..." we sat at a lunch table."There is always a but..." I interrupted him."I don't want to hear about it." I told him and he bit his lip."Karma..." I didn't like the way my name got out of his lips at all."I know that you are still mad at him and I completely understand." he started to say but before he could continue once again I interrupted him."If you understand then why are you trying to convince me to talk to him? I don't want to, Leo. Like I told him, I'm not ready yet. I almost died because of him." I said angrily and folded my hands at my chest.
"I have my reasons." he explained."That's not enough Leo." What Jason did to me can't be forgiven that simply, Leo was used to people attacking him but I wasn't and I was scared of the handsome werewolf. I understand that I had to get over it at some point but I wasn't there yet. I was ready to change the conversation but then Jason stepped into the room.
"Come on now Karma, I can see the way you're looking at him."Leo said mockingly and Jason's head snapped and he looked at me. I bet that he heard what Leo said. My face started to heat up."I'm going to kill you." I growled."Yeah, sure." he had a smug look on his face."You're annoying me." I glared at him and he chuckled."Why? Am I embarrassing you because I said that you're looking at Jason?" he knew that Jason was able to hear it."Stop it, Leo!" I said in a warning tone my cheeks burning.
"Why don't you admit that you're into him?" my eyes almost popped out of my skull."Because I'm not!" I defended myself."You're head over heels for him." he said louder than before."Shut up! You're lying." my heart hammered inside my chest."If I'm lying then why were you thinking of him when you were trying to..." he started to say but I smacked him really hard."If you keep talking I swear I'll never talk to you again." I threatened him and thankfully for me, it worked."Fine, fine I'll stop." he laughed.
I looked at the table that Jason was sitting in. He was looking at me smiling. When he saw me looking his smile became even wider and he grabbed his phone. My phone buzzed and I saw that I had a text from an unknown number.
Unknown: I can't take my eyes off you.
When I saw the message I started freaking out. My heart was beating fast and my stomach turned."He just texted me." I said shocked and Leo took my phone from my hands."Oh, he is adorable."Leo chuckled."Hey Leo..." his eyes fell on me."Do you see that beautiful girl next to him?" I was referring to Serena."Yes." he answered."That's his girlfriend. So, Jason, stop texting me, you're already dating someone." I glared at the attractive boy who bothered me.
Unknown: At least you talked to me...
He texted and when I saw that I bit my lip."Who gave him my number?" I wondered and Leo started playing with his fingers."I might have told him because I know that you are crushing on him..." he said innocently."You fucker..." I growled."I had good intentions." he laughed nervously."I'll punch you!" I yelled at him."You'll just break your hand." he said teasingly."Are you sure about that?" I glared at him."Go ahead try it!" I knew that it was stupid but I was going to punch him.
Unknown: Don't be mad at him I asked him for your number...
Unknown: You know...You can save my number in case of an emergency...
"Yes, but he gave it to you! He betrayed me!" I told him after I saw the messages."What is he saying?"Leo asked and I gave him my phone."I'm not saving it. You have a girlfriend and you need to stop talking to me." my phone buzzed again in Leo's hands.
Unknown: Can you at least look at me with these big beautiful eyes of yours?
When I took the phone from Leo's hands my heart stopped. I couldn't help but bite my lip."You should stop trying to flirt with me..." I pointed out."Look at him he is trying to be cute..."Leo chuckled and I rolled my eyes. What Jason did was inappropriate for so many reasons. Seriously Serena was right there next to him."Leo, get up we're going to the library. I'm not staying here while Jason tries to flirt with me in front of his girlfriend. What if she heard our conversation right now Jason? You should be ashamed of yourself." I said angrily and dragged Leo out of the cafeteria.
Unknown: I am ashamed of myself actually but I can't stop thinking about you and I can't break up just yet...I just wanted you to look at me...
How can just one text my heart swell like that? I supported myself on one of the library's walls and started sliding down until my butt touched the ground."Another cute text?"Leo questioned and I gave him my phone."Well, do you want to know what I think?" he sat next to me."I'll regret this but tell me what you think, Leochu." he rolled his eyes."It's only a matter of time before something happens between you two and I believe that you have to talk to him and forgive him now." I knitted my brows.
"Why now?" why is he pressuring me? "Listen, I'm not supposed to know this because practically it's none of my business but Jason and his pack are going at war tonight." my heart stopped."What do you mean?" I asked him almost stuttering."Is he going to die?" I couldn't speak properly my voice was cracking."No, Karma, no hopefully he won't die. He is a really strong wolf so I don't think it'll come down to that." he explained to me and I sighed relieved."You scared the shit out of me." I placed my hand on my chest.
"Why don't you admit that you care about him?" he asked."I never denied that I care. I'm not ready to forgive him just yet and besides, I really like him and from what I know he really likes me and like you said if we start talking something will happen between us and he will cheat on Serena. I don't want that.I'm not that kind of girl." I told him and he sighed.
"And now that you know about the war, what are you going to do?" I bit my lip."I want to talk to him, hug him and ask him to be careful but I won't do it. It's not right." I said sadly."I just had to tell you, clumsy one. You had the right to know." I gave him an odd look."Why do I have the right to know?" I demanded to know."There are a few things that Jason himself should explain to you. That's one of these things." he answered."I see. He has a lot explaining to do, hasn't he?" I asked and Leo laughed."Yes he has..." he nodded and the bell rang.
For the rest of the day, I just tried to stop thinking about the fact that Jason might die. I kept repeating to myself that it's unlikely but that didn't work. I couldn't do my homework because I was thinking about him, I couldn't eat because I was thinking about him, I couldn't watch TV because I was thinking about him. I was going insane.
