You plunged the syringe into his arm. You saw his muscles relax and his body sag. He stumbled towards you slightly. His eyes began to droop, and he eventually fell to the floor with a loud thud. When Victor fell, it sounded like a sack of falling potatoes hitting concrete pavement.
That noise is bound to draw attention, you think.
You rush out of the room. You have to get out before they catch you.
There was a commotion in the hallway just as you were about to close the door. You knew that it wasn't safe for you to leave that way anymore. So, against your better judgement, you went back inside to find a better exit. As you hopelessly searched the room for an alternative way to leave this hell hole, you found yourself frantically searching the wall.
In the movies there was always some sort of secret passage in old buildings. So, you prayed to god that this one had one too. As your fingertips grazed the surface of the brick wall, you felt something strange about one specific brick. You pressed against it and then there was a click.
There was a loud sound that emitted from the wall that sounded like pressurized air. The wall slid to the side, revealing a laboratory that was bustling with people donned with white coats.
Maybe one of them can help me. They look smart.
You look around and something that catches your eye are the televisions mounted to the ceiling. They were recordings of the proceedings in every room. Praying that they didn't see your escape, you take a risk by running up to a random woman who was in a conversation with another person.
"Excuse me, ma'am, can you help me find the bathroom?"
The woman freezes. You see her fist clench as she turns around to look at you.
As soon as you see her face you know that you're screwed. Ace bitch slapped you so hard you that fell to the floor in an unceremonious heap.
All you could see was stars at this point as Ace stood over you. You could barely see her face clearly, everything seemed to be fading in and out.
"Why the hell are you here?" She growled, "don't you know how to stay put for once?"
You didn't reply. However, that wasn't the response that Ace wanted.
"Hello?" she shouted, waving her hand in front of your eyes, "have you grown deaf or something?"
"Please stop."
Tears start escaping your eyes. You squeeze your eyelids together so you won't see Ace's face. You roll over to your side and curl into a ball.
"I can't take it. I-I...please stop hurting me so much. Please."
"What's wrong with you," stated Ace, placing her boot on your head, "why can't you listen to orders?"
"It hurts...it hurts..." you managed to squeak out, clutching your bandaged side.
"Are you fucking kidding me," yelled one of the men in a white lab coat, "why is 'this' here in our lab? Explain it to me now."
The man was fuming. If it were possible, steam would probably be rising from his ears at this moment. It looked like he was about to pop a blood vessel with his bulging eyes and clenched fists.
"It's none of your goddamn business Hendrickson," exclaimed Ace, folding her arms against her chest, "I pay for you to work here. I don't pay you to defy me or question what I'm doing."
"I've worked my ass off for you and turned a blind eye to everything that you do with the condition that you allow my research to thrive uninterrupted," he said assertively.
