Ye Xiao made his way to the principal's office. The familiar route made him felt somewhat melancholic, but he didn't dwell on his feelings for too long. It would only be a brief meeting with his old teacher.
Knock! Knock!
"Xiao, you know that you don't have to knock."
Hearing that familiar voice, Ye Xiao's hand trembled a bit. He pushed the door open and walked inside as his eyes landed on the old man behind the desk. The old man has white hair, but his eyes still looked as sharp as ever.
"Principal," Ye Xiao called.
The old man, the principal of Chen Elementary School, raised his head. Looking at the young man before him, he sighed deeply. "You have finally come to see me, Ye Xiao."
"I'm sorry, Principal."
"It's not your fault," the Principal waved his hand. "I have not seen you for more than one decade. How are you?"
Ye Xiao smiled. "I'm good."
The principal sighed. "You've come to talk about your daughter, right?"
"Yes."
Tapping his fingers on the table, the principal sighed once again. He took out a paper and handed it to Ye Xiao. "I already received the report regarding your daughter's condition. Here's what the elders concluded."
Normally, important documents like that should never fall into the hands of someone like Ye Xiao. However, the principal didn't really care about that. Even if those men wanted to create trouble, it would be hard because he didn't really break any written rules.
Ye Xiao's eyes landed on the paper. Aside from the talent to use Eon Energy, there were elders that watched the children from the shadows. They would make conclusions regarding the child's mentality and aptitude to learn.
The paper was written as such:
Ye Jiao
Talent: G-
Mentality: weak
She's showing her emotion without any restrain and unable to withstand the result of the test.
Reading the result of the test made Ye Xiao rather angry. He had seen for himself how his daughter held her feelings in because that girl didn't want to make him worry. Besides, what kind of child would be able to stay calm when they find out that they didn't have any talent?
Only adults with mature mind would be able to think much further into the future.
As for the talent, G was the lowest with the color of red. If there was another minus sign, it would show that they didn't have any aptitude at all. This kind of result was the lowest without any chance to study in the future.
"Principal, this..."
"They give this to every school in the capital," the Principal cut off Ye Xiao's words. "It's not my decision, but I'm unable to accept your daughter into the school."
Ye Xiao's face contorted a bit. "Can't you make any leeway of rules? Even the lowest class is fine as long as she can learn the basic knowledge. There's no need for you to teach her Eon Energy."
"Ye Xiao," The Principal sighed. "I really want to help, but I can't."
The two men descended into silence. Looking at each other, Ye Xiao tried to think of ways to get his daughter proper education. Learning under him alone would never be enough for her. He didn't want his daughter to lack in terms of knowledge.
"Is it because of them?" finally, Ye Xiao opened his mouth.
"Yes."
"I see."
Seeing the despondent Ye Xiao, the Principal could only sigh. He really wanted to help this young man, but he was unable to do anything more.
"If you're just an ordinary man, I might be able to help you out, Ye Xiao. Unfortunately, you're a former genius with numerous people who want you to suffer and die. There are too many people you have offended during your time of glory," the Principal explained.
Even without the explanation, Ye Xiao knew all of them very well. The thought of running away from this place with his sister and daughter crossed his mind numerous times, but he was not strong enough. If he tried to make a move, they would surely kill him and everyone around him.
He could only stay low and wait for the chance.
As a genius in his youth, he always acted according to his will. In this kingdom, there was not even a single one of them who could defeat him in terms of talent and battle under rank 3. Among the youths, he was the best. But his recklessness and arrogance pulled him into a deep pit and dragged down everyone around him.
"I'm really thankful for all of your help, Principal."
The Principal nodded his head. "That woman's family called me again not long ago. They made inquiries of your progress in Eon Energy."
Ye Xiao's eyebrows arched. That woman the principal talked about was his ex-wife. His 'ex-wife' came from a different country, a beautiful and talented young genius. The only one who has higher talent than that woman was him. She came to him and seduced him, which resulted in a relationship that didn't last long.
From the moment Ye Jiao was born, he understood that that woman only came to him because of his talent. They didn't even want him as they only hoped to destroy him, leaving him with nothing.
"She has reached rank 5?"
"No, not yet," the Principal shook his head. "She's not that good, Ye Xiao. If only you can reach rank 4, you will be able to chase after her."
Rank 4
Ye Xiao had longed for that rank for a long time, but the incident with his ex-wife seemed to have created a knot in his heart. Even after 7 years, he was unable to solve it.
"Thank you for the information, Principal. I'll be going now."
The Principal watched Ye Xiao for a moment before throwing a key to the young man.
*Catch*
"Principal?" Ye Xiao was stunned to see the key in his hand. He was extremely familiar with this key because of his exceptional performance in the past.
The Principal smiled kindly. "That's my last gift to you. Make a visit to that place for a while and try to calm your mind. You can take Ye Jiao along if you want."
Ye Xiao's hand clenched around the key tightly. He knew that this was the kindness the principal showed him. He bowed down. "Thank you very much, Principal!"
