Over the sound of my scruffy breath I decelerated the hummer’s engine to an idle drive, heard the restrained swung of the gates unsealing for me. I parked the vehicle to our garage and jumped down. I took the sight in. My home…

Tucked away from hills, sprawling ranch steads and farmhouses, Xiao’s Estate was one of the most isolated and peaceful domains outside of the city. There was only one narrow dirt road to get to the property, except for important businesses to the owners, the access was closed to the public. It was a refuge from the fast pace of city life. My dad had built this with one purpose in mind. Intent on preserving his privacy. The architecture was a blend of old and the new. The main home was Western and Greek style, with high-doomed walls and roofs, incorporating stone, wood, and stucco. Inside the house consisted of two master bedrooms, for me and my father, ten guest rooms, three dens, a fully stocked library, five bathrooms, a massive kitchen, and spacious living room. On the grounds were solar-heated pool, a hot tub, and an open-air fire pit with a surrounding patio large enough to accommodate hundred visitors. My dad frequently entertained and business associates here.

I raced to the sliding door of the main door, entering the place, my dad’s constricted grip to my body ended my tears to seeped out from my eyes. “Dad…I freed him…”

“I know, son. But I thought you love him…why did you propose to that girl?” My father’s voice was controlled and cautious.

I gulped, tasting the salty water. “He never loves me.”

“How can you say that?”

“I knew it, okay? He left me with nothing but anguish.” My fingernails buried on his shoulders.

He deliberately let me go and smiled, a half-smile. “No, he loves you.”

I curled my lips, reflecting an underlying ache in my heart. “No. You are lying.” I directed my vision behind me and moved to get away from him but I instantly froze and gaped at the portable stretched-out fabric over plastic poles and stakes.

“You've mistaken him, my son.” He clapped his hands and the chandeliers of the hall automatically switched off.

“Dad…” I didn’t hear myself, captivated by the view.

Wow…

At the middle of our living room there was a medium sized tent surrounded by tiniest twinkling lights, with hues of tangerine, white, lemon, teal blue, aegean, parakeet, and bubblegum. Glow in the dark floating stars that looked like fireflies in summer night and radiant Chinese lanterns lining on the carpeted floor. There were heaps of pillows inside it with supple looking thick blankets too.

“Take a shower. After that we’ll watch my collections of old movies just like that time when you were fifteen years old.” He recommended and I nodded running to my bedroom’s bathroom.

I relaxed myself with lukewarm shower and strawberry  bodywash. I hated strawberry smell because it's too girly yet I had no choice. There's nothing in the cabinet but strawberry soap, strawberry shampoo and strawberry bodywash. What the fuck dad?! I AM NOT A DAUGHTER!!! I AM A SON!!! YOUR SON!!!

Forty minutes of showering and staring at the showerhead I went from my bedroom clad in black shorts that stopped above my knee and a white sweatshirt.

I gained up on our shelter slash fort. Damn. We were kids with problems...

“Dad, what movie should we watch first?” I poked his sticking out socked feet.

“He's not here.” And from there my heart swelled in sempiternal euphoria.

“Yibo...” Was this the guy that broke me?! Or am I drugged by my own illusions?...“Stop imagining him!!!” I angrily pinched my cheeks to the extreme of stupidity.

“Zhan Zhan...I am real.”

So far this is the shortest chapter I've ever written in my entire life. Haha. Kidding. I don't want to leave you all hanging AGAIN but I have an important life threatening interview tomorrow and validation of skills tests. Yeah.  I'll update more chapters soon. I badly need rest for now.

[Wrong grammars and English errors, yes. I'll edit this soon.]
