Jin had always wanted a perfect life.

He wanted the perfect job, perfect home, and a perfect family. For a while, he had what he'd always wanted.

He received his doctorate in psychology and worked as a pediatric therapist. He met his wife two years before he received his doctorate. She was a beautiful, bubbly girl who always wanted him to be happy, and he was.

Their daughter's name was Dokyong, but she preferred to go by DK. It didn't bother Jin in the slightest; she was his entire world. DK was truly the best thing that ever happened to him, simply because he would never lose her.

When DK was six, Jin divorced Raein. She had been cheating on him since their daughter was only three years old; for those three years, Jin had been totally oblivious. No matter how much he loved Raein, it was now obvious she didn't feel the same way. Jin took the divorce very, very hard.

DK wanted to stay with her father, so Jin received full-custody of her; neither of them have seen Raein since that court ruling.

Jin secretly vowed to never love another person ever again; to protect himself or his daughter, he didn't know.

"Hey, Dad," DK chirped when she walked into Jin's at-home office, moving over to kiss her dad's cheek like she did every day. Jin simply hummed, smiling to himself as he sorted out the spreadsheet of clients for the month.

"Hey, honey. How was school?" he asked, glancing over to see the seventeen-year-old take her usual place by the window. To Jin, his daughter seemed to be a permanent fixture in his office from four to six, then they would both call it a day and prepare dinner.

She shrugged, pushing her jet-black hair behind her ear, situating her notebook on her lap. "It was okay. I told Katsuki how I felt about her today." Katsuki (who sometimes went by Kat) had moved from Japan a year ago; DK had a major crush on her.

Jin raised an eyebrow, an anticipated smile crossing his face. "Oh? How did it go?"

By the way his daughter smiled, Jin was certain that Katsuki felt the same way about DK. He hummed again, exiting out of the finished spreadsheet. "When am I going to meet your girlfriend?"

Dk let out a dreamy sigh, stars in her eyes while she thought. "Um, how about when Uncle Tae and Uncle Joon come over? I want them to meet her, too," she said finally, a nervous glint in her eye.

Jin leaned back in his chair, taking his glasses off to clean them. "Sounds good. I'll call them over for dinner next Saturday."

Every Friday, Jin and DK would go to this cute little corner-diner called Busan Eats. Food was cheap, but very well-prepared and never unsatisfying. Not many people ate there on Fridays, but Saturdays were always packed; that was the only day they sold beer.

Since they were frequent customers, the staff knew them by name, including the owner. Jin had only seen the owner, Jeon Jungkook, once, but DK said that he was very nice and often called her in to work during the summer, when they were at their busiest.

"Dad, maybe you should find someone to settle down with," DK said around a mouthful of noodles.

Her appetite can rival her father's, who sighed as he poked his food with his chopsticks. "Honey, I am settled. I have the world's greatest daughter to look after," he said, reaching across the table to push DK's hair out of her face.

Still, she shrugged. "Not for long. If everything goes well, I'll be moving to Japan for college, remember? I don't want you to be all alone at home."
