If I Went Somewhere Else

I angrily walk through the small town of, uhhh Ponyville was it? For that Twilight being the Princess of 'Friendship' she's not very good at it, she didn't even listen to Me! Other townsfolk are just staring at me while I grumble to myself and walk down the streets, I personally don't care if they stare or not because I ain't paying attention.

A wonderful smell suddenly hit my nostrils, oooooh it smells like apple cinnamon! And it's strong, that means it's close! I follow my nose towards the amazing scent, and it leads me to a large building that looks exactly like a Gingerbread house. I mean, it's got the icing and gumdrops much like a Gingerbread house WOULD. I can literally see the scent trail like on tv when the character smells something good, so this must be the place.

"Wow, that is one big gingerbread house." I say to myself.

I walk through the saloon like doors into what looks like a bakery, and it's even gingerbread house themed INSIDE. Looking over the counter, I can see Pinkie Pie working alongside a blue pony with a pink whipped cream looking mane. They had baking supplies all over the counters and truthfully were making a mess, but as my mom is a baker I know EXACTLY how messy it gets. I approach the counter and put my hooves on it to get a better look.

"Flour and sugar and water and eggs and cinnamon and apples!" Pinkie said.

Ahhh so that's the Apple cinnamon I was smelling! I could see that they had made what looked like several cupcakes with apple slices in the icing, and to be honest...they looked really good right about now. But I'm sure they're for an order and I won't bother them by asking. That was then when Pinkie Pie noticed me.

"Oh hi ShadowStar! We're just making the food for your coronation!" She said with a large smile.

Aaaaand there goes my mood. I frowned and felt my ears fall in anger.

"Sorry, but I'm afraid there will be no coronation." I snorted and backed away from the counter.

"Wait what? But Twilight said that-"

"Pardon my interruption, but I am here to speak to ShadowStar." A familiar voice said behind me.

Turning around, there stood Princess Luna. I still felt very annoyed, but as she is rather nice I took a deep breath to put on my nice smile.

"Luna? What are you doing here?" I ask.

"I would like to speak with you. Would you mind that?" She asks.

"Uh, no. I don't mind." I said.

Huh, why would the Princess of the Night be here to talk with me? Unless she wants to tell me that it's not very 'princess like' to curse in front of other ponies, I mentally rolled my eyes at the thought of it. Luna used her magic hocus pocus and teleported herself and I to a small stream outside the small town. Damn, I GOTTA learn how to do that. My Little Pony may not be as bad as I thought, buuuut it's still pretty corny. The birds were chirping and little rabbits were jumping on rocks across the river.

"Is uh, there any reason you wanted to talk to me?" I ask curiously.

"There is. But first, I want you to know that my sister, Cadence and I were only told there was another Alicorn in Equestria. The coronation speech was a surprise to us as well. Do you understand?" Luna asks.

"I do, I guess. But what's up with that Twilight? No offense."

"She tends to...how do I explain it.." She tapped a hoof to her chin.

"Go crazy obsessive overboard over stuff and such?"

Luna's eyes widen as she turned her attention to me, a slight chuckle coming from her.

"Well, I wouldn't have worded it like that. I was going to say determinedly rambunctious."

"Sorry, I don't really sugarcoat things. I tell people how it is."

I look down at the stream in front of me, watching the fish swim. The dark blue alicorn next to me sat down, I did the same as my hooves were sore from walking on rocks. Luna sighed as she looked into the water.

"You and I are not so different, ShadowStar."

I perk, "What do you mean?"

"I saw how you exploded back in Twilights castle. That was anger you've been storing for a long time, I did the very same thing 1000 moons ago to my sister." Luna sounded guilty.

Whoa, okay now I'm interested. I turn myself to face her fully, folding these cursed wings behind my back. I felt bad for her strangely, like I can relate to her almost. Must be my Empathness coming into play.

"What happened?" I asked.

Luna looked to me, her ears down.

"I was jealous of my sister. She raises the sun and I raises the moon, ponies would frolick in the warm sunshine. But when I raise the moon, ponies went to sleep and ignored the beauty of the night. I was jealous that my night did not get as much attention as the day. So one faithful afternoon, I raised the moon to block out the sun, and I changed..."

"Changed?" I ask.

She nods, "I changed into a monster, Nightmare Moon. My sister and I battled for power over Equestria, but it ended with me being banished to the moon for 1000 moons."

Wow. For a little kids show, this place has a pretty interesting plot. I LOVE IT!! But I still feel bad for Luna, it just feels so relatable for some reason. I put my hand/hoof/whatever on her shoulder as she continued.

"After I escaped, I sought out to destroy the Elements of harmony. Fortunately Twilight and her friends represent the Elements and used them to stop Nightmare Moon." The Dark blue alicorn explained.

"And everyone forgave you?" I asked.

She nodded, "All was well ever since."

I smiled and pat Lunas shoulder.

"If it makes you feel any better, I stay up pretty late into the night and wake up early enough it's still dark out."

"You do? But aren't you exhausted when you do?"

"No not really, I don't really need that much sleep. 5-6 hours is my usual and I function just fine."

The Princess smiled at me and looked back to the stream.

"Luna, could I ask you some questions?"

"Certainly."

"Why does everyone have a tattoo on their back legs?" I ask.

Luna looked very confused, "You mean their cutie marks?"

What the fuck is a cutie mark?

"I guess..? Whats a 'cutie mark'?"

"A Cutie Mark is a symbol of a pony's natural talent which could be almost anything. I'm not sure what yours represents though."

Wait wait WAIT. I have one?? I got to my feet, looked back at my legs and sure enough there was something on my legs. It looked like a pink crystal heart with a crystal shard on each side of it. Well this just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

"That's fucking weird..." I muttered.

"Now about this coronation that's occurring for you, I know you're less than pleased."

I squinted, "Yeah, I am. I'm not staying in this country very long, and it ain't my style so it's really just pointless."
