Saving Myself

7.

Brandon POV:

"Brandon!" I heard Axel shout from the direction he just walked in.

I was still staring down at Raven, thinking about how lucky we were that the beautiful bird was there to save him.

The urgency in his voice sent me running from the room. Laying down on the bed was the girl with blood leaking through her shirt and her skin almost the same colour of the previous white sheets.

She was so small and innocent, like my brother but she was different, she put my brother before herself and I would never be able to thank her.

"No, no,no,no"

I stepped up to her tiny frame and started peeling off the blood sodden dress to find the source of blood loss.

Her whole torso was bruised and bloody and a gaping whole was left in her side.

It was our fault, we led them here and she got hurt. I could never forgive myself.

There were faint voices but I could only focus on the broken girl in front of me. Then Sean entered the room asking about Raven.

"He is, well was, she saved him but she didn't tell us that she was injured too. You need to help her Doc. I...she, she"

I just couldn't get the words out. If she died then it would be our fault, my fault. She didn't deserve this.

I didn't want to wait outside, I wanted to help but I knew that I would just get in the way of Dr Green.

When I had sat on the couch no one asked any questions. We all knew what had happened. My brother was still thinking about Raven but I knew he was concerned for the girl who saved him as well.

There were knocks on the door but no one answered, all our energy was drained, emotionally and physically.

When two guys walked in, I didn't even look up. If they were going to cause trouble, we'd deserve it.

I guess Marc had enough with the strangers as he addressed them.

Both guys were tall and looked as if they could do a decent amount of damage. One of them sat across from me but I didn't take my eyes off of the door that the bird was behind.

I was angry at myself and the everyone in the room. All of us and we couldn't protect her, she was obviously trained and it made her 10 times more gorgeous but it also made me want to protect her more.

I narrowed my eyes at the door, cursing Axel for making me wait outside and so far away if something went wrong.

"Want to tell me what you're so pissed off about?" the bigger guy asked.

He didn't look like he could hurt me but the look in his eyes told me to be cautious.

Marc tried to question the bird's friends. They seemed pretty desperate to find her, I wondered which one she was with but the thought made my chest ache.

The angry guy seemed to know something was wrong and when Axel entered the room he exploded.

It happened so quickly and it shocked the hell out of me. The bigger guy had managed to tackle Axel to the ground with a massive force and even more surprisingly Axel was unable to fight back, admitting defeat.

Words were exchanged and the guy punched Axel causing us all to jump into action. Even Marc looked wary as none of us knew what they were capable of.

The innocent one had my brother pinned against the wall, the huge muscles now prominent in his arms and back. They were trained but not by academy.

The boys headed to the room with their friend in while we recuperated. There was no point in retaliating, they would obviously do anything for her and they weren't scared of us like most people were.

Dr Green followed them into the room and I couldn't help but go as well. I tried to convince myself it was because I didn't want Sean in there when they were unpredictable but I really wanted to see her again.

The other guy was heading down the hall, a phone to his ear, multiple things went through my head. Were these guys hurting her? Was she safe?

Seeing the mad one climb into the bed next to her angered me for many reasons, It was clear he wouldn't hurt her, he looked broken as he curled around her, as if to protect her. I was jealous, I wanted to protect her like that.

It was clear that he was unbothered by my presence and he didn't even acknowledge his brother walk in.

"Who are you?"

It was time for answers.

"I'm Noah, that's Luca. We live in the building"

So these were the kids that had moved upstairs while we were away but there was no mention of a bird or that they were specially trained.

"And his girlfriend?"

I needed to know so I didn't get my hopes up. I didn't need a broken heart.

"Sang, thank you for helping her but we should get home"

Sang. It suited her. One of a kind. My chest tightened at the confirmation of their relationship.

My mind only caught up to what he said after he'd scooped her up and hauled her down the corridor.

"Are you sure it's a good idea to take her, she can stay here"

She needed to stay. That way I could at least know her.

"What's going on?"
Marc almost seemed as desperate to keep her as I was.
"We're taking her home. You look after your family and we'll look after ours"
Luca's comment made me mad because it was true. We were the ones who hurt her, why would she ever stay with us.

As soon as they were out of the apartment, Axel's voice rang out.
"Family meeting, Corey's room. NOW!"
As soon as all of us were present he began.
"Sean checked Raven over. He'll be fine. The girl saved his life"
"Sang" I said "That's her name"
"Right. Sang saved his life. She sustained a bullet wound to the left torso, Dr Green did the best he could, she should be fine if she doesn't get an infection."

"What about the guys she was with?"
"They live upstairs" my brother spoke up, this being his area of expertise, " Luca and Noah Castillo, no mention of Sang"

"Well it's obvious they are all well trained but they didn't fight or act like academy. They are a threat, even though they seemed to care for the girl, we can't assume that she is safe with them. They aren't scared of us and that leads me to believe they are much more dangerous than they lead people to believe" Axel looked angry as well as ashamed by the fact that teenagers had gotten the best of us.

Everyone nodded their heads. From the way Luca had taken down Axel and Noah had held the rest of us back there was no doubt in my mind that if they wanted to seriously hurt us, they could've.

"Corey I want surveillance on their room. Set up alerts. I want to know what their next steps are. Our top priority is Sang, she can't be hurt because of us again."

After that everyone left so it was only me and Corey in the room.

" You like her don't you?" My brother knew me too well

"As soon as she pulled that gun, I was a goner"

I couldn't help but smile.
