Love Unraveled (Vampire Knight FanFic)

Back to school

    Yuki Cross opened her eyes before the first rays of the sun had reached the morning sky.  She sat up quickly in her bed and stretched one arm toward the ceiling, chasing away the bit of stiffness from her sleep. 

    "I'm awake early and ready for a good start to the year!" she said confidently to herself. She swung her legs over the side of the bed and hopped down, shrugging off her thin nightgown and grabbing her black, Day class uniform from the top of her dresser.  After getting dressed she added the final addition of her outfit, the white band that the school guardians wear on their arm.

   Before heading to the bathroom to finish getting ready, Yuki took a detour down the hall to give the other school guardian, Zero Kiryu, a courtesy wake-up call. 

     "Goodmorning sleepy-head, it's time to wake up!" She chimed while tapping 3 times on the door. After no answer she decided to give him a few minutes to wake up on his own. He would chastise her if she pestered him too much so early in the day.

    She made her way to the bathroom, still yawning and folding her arms over her head to flex the stiffness from her shoulders. She reached the bathroom and pushed the door open. Steam flooded out into the hall and she caught herself staring at a freshly showered and shirtless Zero, leaning over the sink with a toothbrush in his hand. 

   "Can I help you?" He questioned, casting an annoyed look with his violet colored eyes. Strands of damp, silver hair fell across his gaze and  Yuki felt herself blush with embarrassment, quickly channeled into irritation.

     "Learn how to properly latch a door would ya!" She squeaked back while turning quickly and shutting the door behind her.  She started to stomp away, heat still rising from her cheeks.  Doors have locks for a reason! she thought to herself. What if I'd came in sooner? Like when he was getting out of the shower or something?  The red in her cheeks deepened, and she shook the thought from her head, flinging messy brown hair wildly around her face.

  Before she made it to the living room, the bathroom door opened once more.  Zero stepped out into the hall, finishing up the buttons of his shirt. His long, nimble fingers fastened them all in a matter of seconds and she caught herself staring, a bit fascinated.

   "Its all yours." He offered, passing her with a quick stride.  Yuki rolled her eyes and turned back to finish getting ready. 

   She stood in front of the mirror eyeing her small pale reflection as she brushed the tangles away from her cherry-brown eyes.  She wasnt as beautiful as the girls in the night class, her mind conjuring up the image of Ruka with long, wavy, toffee colored hair and warm brown eyes. Still, she hoped she was was pretty enough to catch the eye of their dorm president, Kaname Kuran.  Yuki wanted to make a good impression by waking up early to start her duties as school guardian.

    After finishing up in the bathroom, she made her way to the kitchen for a quick bite to eat.  Zero was already at the stove, swirling eggs around in a frying pan.
"Toast?" He asked.

   "Yes please." Yuki poured herself a glass of juice and took a seat at the table. "Thank you, Zero."

    Zero sat her plate on the table in front of her and Yuki began to scarf down the eggs and toast, barely stopping to breathe between bites.  She finished her plate in minutes and reached for her juice to wash down the last mouthful.

   "Slow down or you'll choke... and you look like a chipmunk." Zero taunted, taking a reasonable sized bite out of his own toast.

   Yuki finished her juice and then scowled, sticking out her tongue at the silver haired boy.  "At least I dont look like-" she stopped. She actually couldn't think of a comparable insult at the moment.  "Um, someone who's going to be late on the first day!"  She finished, jumping up from her seat and sprinting out the door.

   Zero rolled his eyes. She could have at least cleaned up after herself first.

Author note: AAAAAAH. Was that too  short for a chapter? What do you think?  Yuki and Zero are so cute :p  Not sure how long this story is going to end up being, this is my first fic. Feedback appreciated. <3
