Eikko and Me- A Selection Story

Chapter 6

It had been a few weeks since I found out I was pregnant. Camille and Ahren decided to stay for another month. They were planning to leave while we were gone. When we told them that we're staying, they were shocked. We didn't tell them I was a month pregnant because we wanted to make it more of a surprise.

I was working in my office when I heard a knock on the door. The guards on duty turned to me, and I nodded. I never thought that I would need guards while working. Mom and Dad forced me to have them with me at all times. They said it was for 'my safety' but I just felt watched. It led me to do less work most of the time. They opened the door to my husband walking in with a fancy gold box under his arm.

"So, my wife is working on helping the country while I was out helping Iva get the gift for your mom ready." He smiled, walked over, and put the box in front of me. I opened the lid and saw a pair of new jeans on top.  Underneath it was the shirt that Iva made and under that lie the pregnancy test.

"I thought we could finish the gift after the doctors visit today. We can take extra pictures of the baby." He winked at me and kissed my cheek softly. I looked at him in the eyes, smiled, and kissed his cheek back. He made me stand up, and he held my body close to his. He spun me around so my back was on his chest, and he put a hand on my stomach. He had been so protective of me ever since he found out I was pregnant. He was being the amazing Dad I knew he would be. I was so close that I could smell his vanilla scent, as I felt a flutter in my stomach.

I must have made a face because Eikko faced me.  I realized he was concerned that I was going to vomit again. I have been very nauseous for the past few weeks. I gave him a reassuring smile that I was ok, and he bent down to kiss my forehead. 

"Let's go to the doctor early, just to make sure you are ok. You were in the bathroom this morning longer than usual since you became pregnant, and you're feeling something right now. We can see our precious son or daughter as well." I nodded, excited to see our heir. I knew that we would not know the gender, or see its features, but he or she would be our precious angel. I smiled, hand in hand with my husband. We walked down to the hospital wing, and when we arrived, the nurse got excited.

"You guys are early!"

"We decided we could not wait any longer!" Eikko said this so excited, I thought he was going to fall over. I just laughed at him.

"I will go get the room ready for both of you your majesties. Suzy-" she called another nurse's attention. The nurse came in, and she curtsied when she saw us. "-tell Dr. Ashlar we need him for their majesties' appointment!" The nurse smiled and left to get the ultrasound room ready. It was last used when Mom had Osten. I tried to remember when he was born. All I remember was me being sad that nobody wanted to play princesses with me since I was the only girl. I was 8 then, and I do not remember much. 

We sat down in the waiting area chairs. I waited with my head on Eikko's shoulder and our hands connecting. He stroked his fingers through my hair, and I ended up getting lost in my thoughts. I looked up to see Dr. Ashlar walking in the waiting area, smiling.

"Your majesties! How lovely it is to see you! I hear congratulations are in order! Do you want any pictures today? I also can draw blood for the gender if you two would like."

"Thank you, doctor. We would like a couple of extra pictures for our parents. I think we want to do a gender reveal after we do the pregnancy announcement on the report." I watched my husband communicate the announcement plan, and smiled at him. My husband's voice was so soothing to me. I got snapped out of the moment when Dr. Ashlar started talking. 

"Okay, your majesties right this way." We followed him to a room. Eikko was holding my hand and giving a reassuring squeeze when we arrived at a door. Dr. Ashlar opened the door, and I lied down on the hospital bed. Eikko sat on a chair next to me, not letting go of my hand.  I pulled up my shirt so he could get to my abdomen. Dr. Ashlar grabbed some gel and put it on my stomach. It was nice and warm. Eikko rested his hand on my shoulder and squeezed it. Dr. Ashlar had a nurse bring out a tv where he would show us our baby. He grabbed a wand-like tool and turned on the tv. He put the tool on my slimy, gelly, and cold belly and moved it around. I giggled as Eikko stared longingly at the screen. I saw Dr. Ashlar smile, as he circled it around one spot.

"Well, there is definitely a baby in there. It looks like it is about 3 weeks old! It is the size of a pinhead. Do you see this right here?" He pointed at a tiny circle, and we both nodded. "That is your baby. It is-" I got lost in the sight of a dot. It was my child, and I could not wait to see him or her grow up as my beautiful child. I looked over at Dr. Ashlar as he wrote something down and printed the pictures. I looked over at my husband, who I noticed was getting teary-eyed. I wiped a tear that had fallen on to his cheek. He looked at me, smiled, and leaned his head on my shoulder.

"So, only your maids and the hospital staff know until tonight, right?"

"Yes. Tonight after dessert we are telling my family that is here. We will video call the rest later to let them know." I looked over at Eikko, who looked extremely proud.

"Congrats again your majesties. I will see you for a follow up in a month." We smiled and thanked him. Then, we left to go get ready for a life-changing dessert with our family.

A/N

So... I was going to add the announcement part in this chapter. Then, I looked and saw I had over 1,000 words!!! I pre-wrote this chapter, and I had only 3 pages out of 6! I did a lot of editing from the original. Also, I am SO sorry I have not posted in... A MONTH!! I kept getting busy, and I thought I would post it before my chaotic week!!! (my school musical is this week) Once again, sorry, and thank you for reading! -Kenzie
