Sometimes I remember
When you were only little
The odd things that amused you
The fizzy sound of coldrinks
And the bubbles that tickled your nose
Your face a picture of pure delight
when you first played in the snow
You'd swing for hours and never get tiredWhen you were just three
You held on tight to my hand
When we went walking through the woods
We'd stop so you could pick a flower
A pretty one just for mom
You'd pick every dandelion
You could see
and run after seeds blowing away in the windNow I watch you as a teen
and wonder where the years have gone
It seems like yesterday
My grandson was just three
The toys and games and cuddles too
Are now replaced with teenage troubles and
heartbreaking times
All too many to try and countEvery day I hope and pray
That when you leave your teenage years
You'll find the strength and the courage
To choose the path that's right for you
As you step into your adult life
and be the man I know you can be(c) Phoenix Rainez
