"You were eavesdropping"

After thinking on how to start for a while. She decides to ask straight.

"Did you talk to Natasha before you left?",Nandini asked him.

" Did she say something? ",Manik asked instead in return and she sighs.

" So you did say her something that pissed her off.",Nandini said him pointing him out.

" I told you earlier too that I had a talk with her and she won't trouble you. ",Manik defended himself.

" But i didn't know you pissed her off so bad. What exactly did you say her? I thought you just asked her to not show tantrums and respect your employees. ", Nandini said and Manik narrowed his eyes.

" You were eavesdropping.",Manik accused her.

"I was not. I just happen to listen to it by mistake.",She said trying to be confident and he shake her head with a small smile on his face.

"I know you are lying.",He said with a smirk and she frowned.

" Fine i eavesdropped but i want to know why she was so angry today. ",Nandini accepted knowing he won't believe her lie.

" Well you know her. Does she need a reason to be not angry.",Manik tried to settle the matter and Nandini glared at the phone.

"Manik what did you do?",Nandini asked again with warning in her voice.

"After the meeting got over. I gave her a piece of mind.",Manik said with no regrets and Nandini groaned in annoyance.

"Why would you do that when i never asked you to?",She asked him confused.

"You seriously ask me this. She had no right to talk to you the way she did and that too infront of me.",Manik said getting angry recalling her behaviour.

" Manik you don't have to. I told you so many times.",Nandini said tired of repeating things to him.

"Yeah yeah I have listened you say that thousand times now. Manik I don't want you to fight for me. Manik i am your employee in the office. Manik you won't say anything. Manik i can handle this. ",He said irritated imitating her words.

" Then why did you? ",She asked him getting frustrated too.

" Well as much as i listen to your silly requests. I am not one who would stay silent and not do anything seeing someone disrespecting my wife. And don't tell me you didn't want me to do it. All the time you tell me that you will handle this but you kept quiet when she was giving you orders and you looked at me expecting me to tell her to shut up. ",Manik said her and she tapped her heels against the floor looking down knowing she was at fault.

She was expecting manik to say something to natasha that day and that's the reason why she eavesdropped hoping he would atleast say something to her after she's gone.

"She is a client manik and I am an employee. I couldn't tell her to shut up. Everyone said she is an important client and she would have been a good exposure for me also. ",Nandini said in a small voice.

" Nandini she is a client, I understand but don't you trust me. I would have supported you and said in your favor. Even if you were just my employee not my wife she doesn't get to order you around and i would have supported you if you said her no and went to your desk but you didn't and that made me irritated and i asked you to get that damned coffee for her. ",Manik tried to make her understand controlling his irritation.

" Clients are important, they bring profit but you guys work hard to make the company what it is. I would always choose you guys over the clients if you are right. ",He said softly putting aside his irritation and she felt pride for him in her heart.
