Karkat was out of the house at the moment, leaving you alone to write out what Karkat had instructed you to for his book. You must admit it was coming along perfectly. You would buy this without a second thought, no matter if it was Karkat who had made it, or the most unheard of person you could think of.

Though who it is by may be hightening your affections to the book a tad bit. It is fair to say that you have grown...extremely fond of Karkat. As fucked up as it is quite essentially considering he's on the fine line of life and death and you could very well be trailing after a dead man. But you're keeping your head high, you know things will work out. They have to. And when they do if he wants to or not he's taking you on the best date of your life no questions asked. He doesn't have a choice. Unless he rather cough up his lungs then go out with you, then you think you can give him some leeway and leave him alone.

You hope that isn't the case.

Sollux has been stopping in more frequently and has even gone as far as join you for morning coffee a few times. He has become a welcome guest as long as he no longer visible or even in range of the bathroom when you are in all four walls of the sacred room.

Privacy is virtue.  The deadline is approaching quickly and though you should be nervous you feel nothing but content with how things have been coming along. You and Karkat make sure to have movie night every Friday and sometimes Wednesdays, Sollux enjoys these as well. If the movie isn't a romcom Karkat complains constantly on how he misses the salty melt in your mouth taste of movie theater popcorn and late night Netflix binging.

You really just should kiss him. But you think it may distract from the goal at hand. Karkat, though swimming through the luxaries of your apartment is still making time to focus on staying alive. He often pushes you to stop by the book store since you promised to visit his life long friend Terezi, where she then tells you of Kar's interesting talent of figuring people out.

"Its almost spooky how he did it." She had declared. "He even did it when you came in. Insisting you had stayed up studying for a college class..." She was right. You had been studying for your speech final. Practicing lines of your own lectures for a presentation in another class. You were extremely surprised to wake up drooling on your notebook. After that you had became a frequent visitor to the bookstore even without Karkat and come to love each and every person inside of it.

Vaugely you wonder where Karkat was right now, he said he needed to visit someone, saying that it was awfully important and that it must be done alone. You didn't protest and waved him off with a smile and hug telling him to be home for supper, despite the fact he could not eat. Footsteps appear beside you signaling the entrance of Sollux, who you had invited over for snacks and pleasent conversation that you lacked at this moment.

"Kankri."

"Hello, Sollux. Nice to see you well on time. I hope our meet did not infringe on anything you may have needed to do."

"Pft. I don't do anything but look after your thorry athes tho no worries."

"Language, Sollux."

"Well excuse me, your highneth."

"Don't be rude. Now will you get the tea off the kettle for me?"

"Yeah, yeah whatever."

Sollux walked over waving a hand in dismiss to the kitchen grabbing the pot of tea and pouring it into two mugs laid out already for their said purpose. Bringing the cups back you both sat at the table looking over footnotes of Karkats story and commenting idly on the city. It was big and beautiful, and full of plenty to talk about. minutes ticked into hours and soon enough Kankri had to start making dinner for everyone, Sollux had been invited to stay.

When the water started to boil, Sollux clicked his tongue in contimplation and stared at the door. He could feel Karkats essence drawing near. And as soon as Sollux opened his mouth to speak this knowledge, two ghosts barled through the door, One being Karkat, grinning widely, and the other being a tall woman with a gentle face and short stylish hair, who looks strikingly like Karkat himself.

"Kankri, Sollux, I would like you to meet my mother."
