"Mom, I would like you to meet Kankri and Sollux, my family."
The Vantas mother looked at them carefully and skeptically before her face turning from contimplative into a joyus grin and quickly making her way over to both of them with excitement dotting her features in every possible sense of the expression.
"Hello! I'm Mrs. Vantas. It's lovely to meet Karkat's family at long last." She signed quickly, with Karkat translating for them, the smile on his face seemed like it was stuck there.
Sollux just smiled, agreeing with the thought mentally. Kankri stood there stunned because Karkat's dead mother was someone he could see and she was right in front of him. Karkat had normally kept tight lip about his family. Never uttering a word about them. Being called his actual family was both flattering and puzzling, wouldn't his father and possible siblings be his family? Sollux was first to break the silence.
"It'th wonderful to meet you, Mrth. Vantath. I'm Thollux."
"O-oh, yes, Please excuse me for being so rude, Hello. I'm Kankri."
She nodded still smiling and signed something to Karkat. Who then smiled in return. Sollux looked at her curiously but smiled after realizing what was going on. Karkat's mother couldn't speak.
"She says it's lovely to meet you both as well."
"I'm glad to hear that. I know the fact neither of you can eat can be possibly offensive, but I mean it in no way offensive when I ask, Mrs. Vantas, would you like to stay for dinner?"
Neither Karkat, Kankri, or Sollux never saw someone nod so enthusiastically before in their lives. As dinner was served everyone took their place, mouthes watering over pasta drizzled delectiably with an array of cheese's and sause. as Sollux and Kankri ate, despite the fact Karkat's mother couldn't speak, it was extremely easy to strike up conversation, with Karkat as translator.
"And so mom whipped around and shouted right in the mans face about it! Then she stomped on his foot and fled! Served the fuc- Sucker right!"
"Goodness gracious! I must agree the man was terrible sounding...."
"You are amazing Mith.Vantath! I don't think I could ever muthter the courage to have done that."
She laughed in return gazing at them with love in her eyes. Her little boy finally had a family and she couldn't be more proud. She couldn't be more proud of anyone in the world.
"Mrs. Vantas, I must say it's an honor to meet someone who raised Karkat as well as you have."
She could only agree.

Dinner was cleaned and the family gathered in the livingroom, Mrs. Vantas could feel herself fading, but said nothing on the matter as she watched them all argue playfully on what to watch that night.
"Not another freaking romcom! I thwear if I thee one more I'll exthplode!"
"Shut it Sollux! Kankri and me like this one! Plus I want mom to watch it! She'll laugh her as- er...Her butt off!!!"
"Nice save."
"Thank you, Kankri."
Mrs. Vantas laughed silently, and as the clock ticked midnight, they finally settled on, "How to Loose A Guy In Ten Days." Around the middle of the end of the movie, everyone was fast asleep dreaming of nothing more than the good day they had. How much they meant to eachother, and what the future could hold. Karkat was the first to awake for once, rising from his spot beside Kankri and taking a look around. The clock on the all read 8:00 AM, his mother was no where to be found. She had found peace within the fact her son was doing well, and had friends who would keep him safe. Karkat leans against Kankri a bit dazed, but he cannot seem to find sadness. Only joy to find his mother no longer tied to the lonely afterlife on this world. He closes his eyes and basks in the joy of being surrounded by those he loved.
