I awaken slowly, a pounding in the back of my skull, groaning i sit up, leaning back against the wall, my gaze is captured by the small figure huddled in the far corner of the open cell, her bright blue gaze holds mine, red specks fleck the blue depths as she growls under her breath. Sapphire, a fitting name as i fall into her mesmerizing eyes. I thought she was a werewolf but after her not so gentle attack i know better than to call her that again, such power is flowing in her frame, only a head or so shorter than me, her long brunette hair waves around her shoulders like a silk curtain, my cotton shirt drowns her frame but i know from watching her change back from her wolf form. The power in her wolf form was breathtaking, she held her own against me, a trained warrior, i found that i couldnt bring myself to hurt her, her bright intelligent eyes and soft skin made my fingers itch to hold her close and kiss her soundly. I've had plenty of lovers in the past but none compare to this amazing young woman huddled infront of me, glaring at me and the bars as if i had tricked her. The magic woven into the bars is intriguing, i can touch them and nothing happens but whenever she attacked me the bars would fight back, defending me, defending the innocent one. Pushing to my feet i step towards the cell, wondering why she didnt try to leave.
"Why are you still here?" I ask, genuinely curious, she growls back, launching to her feet, hands curled into fists.
"You knew i wouldnt be able to leave." She growls causing me to frown in confusion.
"What do you mean?" I ask, she storms over, slamming her palm into an invisible barrier an inch infront of my face, filling the space the bars once blocked. She clutches her hand as she storms away again, a low growl from her throat as she turns her back to me, gingerly i push my hand out infront of me, meeting no resistance or barrier i step into the small cold cell.
"Why am i here?" She asks quietly, shoulders slumped, i hate that look, i hate the defeated tone in her voice. I enjoy our sparring and fighting.
"You attacked me." I reply smugly, knowing it will get a rise out of her, when she turns her eyes flash black before going back to the red streaked blue.
"I was not in control of what happened. Something led me to that lake and you were there. I didnt start the fight. You did." She growls, stalking towards me, slamming her palm into my chest, surprising both of us i capture her soft hand against my frame, feeling the heat from her skin seeping into mine, her eyes widen as she tries to pull her hand back but i hold it firmly captive.
"Why were you at the lake? Were you another guardian?" Sapphire stops struggling and looks at me, confusion creasing her brow.
"Guardian? For what? What are you talking about?"
"Guardian of the portal."
"The shimmery doorway in the lake?" She asks, her eyes wide with rememberance and confusion. Her gaze suddenly clouds as if shes not with me anymore, her brows creasing as if annoyed, when her eyes clear again i find myself falling into their pools.
"Does your wolf talk to you?" I ask, the only assumption i can make as to what gives her the far away look. She yanks her hand from my chest, retreating to the back wall. Smug i grin at her, probably realising before she does that she wont hurt me, there's something about me that has intrigued her.
"Why do you want to know?" She asks suspiciously, her gaze narrowed.
"I'm just curious."
"Yes she speaks to me, and i to her."
"Is she another person or just an extension of your being?"
"Another person, shes been alive for millenium, forced into a human body to be able to survive but when said body dies, which is quite often, she is stuck in the nether before another human body is formed that can contain her soul as well as the humans soul. She cant survive without the human counterpart." She quickly covers her mouth, a blush coating her skin as she realises just how much she said, stepping forward, entranced by the soft blush i hear her breath catch, her nails dig into her palms, the mouthwatering scent of her blood overwhelms me. Capturing her hands i straighten her fingers, the small crescent lacerations form bright red moons on her soft skin, bringing each palm to my lips i swipe my tongue across her delectable skin, the taste of her blood bursts over my senses, she tastes like my favourite whisky mixed with a heady honey ambrosia. Her pulse races under my lips and it takes all my willpower not to sink my fangs deep into her soft skin, her blue eyes are slightly glazed over as she watches me, helpless to her body's natural reaction, as helpless as i am to my reaction to her. I never really understood Byron's and Alex's devotion to their other halves but now, with Sapphire, i understand it completely, the absolute need to fulfill anything she wants, anything she desires, be the person that she needs in her life, even without her realising what she needs.
