Chapter 14

I watched as the girl walked up to us and Roland gave her an annoyed look which made me feel a little better. But not much, the came over to us and smiled. She put her hands on her hips and said "I've been looking all over for you," looking at Roland. I watched him roll his eyes and ask "why is that Tessa?" Roland and her must not get along well or he had bad blood between them because he seemed on edge and not happy at all about seeing her.

Tessa sighed and replied "I came to tell you, that you will be getting a new student next week, he's a transfer." She emphasized it was so important that she came and told him. Roland seemed pleased at the news and said "good, thank you Tessa." It was clear he was trying to dismiss her but she didn't seem to take the hint. She stood there a moment then stated "well, aren't you going to introduce me to this fine women next to you?"

Roland glared at Tessa then looked at me with softer eyes and said "Valerie this is Tessa, she works in the administration office," he then turned to Tessa and continued "Tessa this is Valerie, my girlfriend." She didn't look pleased at that information but I was thrilled he actually called me his girlfriend. Tessa then shook my hand and replied "It's nice to meet you," sh turned to Roland "next week, and now I got to go, bye." Tessa gave a friendly wave and got out of here as fast as she could. I gave Roland an questioning loom trying to silently ask what all that was about.

He sighed and stated "we went on one date but I wasn't feeling anything so I put an end to it before anything even started. Ever since she's been trying to get me to go out with her again." I nodded and felt a little queasy thinking of him on a date with her. He put his arm around me and asked "was it okay that I called you my girlfriend? I don't want to seem to be moving things to fasts but it just seems like I know you so well. I find it hard to believe this is our second date." Roland looked really sheepish and nervous to my response.

I looked him straight in the eye and replied "yes, I actually felt really good when you called me your girlfriend and to be honest I feel the same way." I then stood on my tiptoes and gave him a light kiss on the lips. He smiled, took my hand 'I'm glad, now why don't we go get something to eat." I nodded and went to this little Italian restaurant. Roland even surprised me by ordering in Italian.

The food was really good and we made light conversation over the weather, holiday plans, the food. He then invited me to a Halloween party the university was having for it's for staff. I looked at him and asked "what kind of Halloween party?" Was it going to be like a costume party or more of a gathering? He smiled and replied "I'm not sure but if you will go with me I'll gladly find out." I smiled and nodded. Roland soon drove me home  and he kissed me at the door.
