I awoke to my alarm clock. I got up and got ready for work. I worked at a cafe down the street that always attracts tourists and the locals. It was a nice place, you could work, interact with friends, study, or just relax. I put on my uniform, ate a bagel, brushed my teeth, and was out the door. I arrived a little early so I took my time setting everything up to open. I worked the counter; make coffee, tea, and take orders. Someone else comes in to cook but I turned on the ovens and everything so they would be warmed up when they got here.

It didn't take long to get busy but my mind kept going back to Roland. I tried not to think about it but for some reason I couldn't shake him from my mind. Plus the dream I had last night, that was creepy. I did my rounds again and I was cleaning up a table. I had the cup and plates in my hand when he walked through the door. I almost dropped everything I was holding.

I put everything in the sink and came back out and walked over to him and asked "may I take your order?" I didn't look at him because I know if I did, I wouldn't be able to think right or I would just end up staring at him. Roland then said "well.. I heard the seasonal pumpkin spice latte is really good, is it?" I smiled and answered "it all depends on if you like pumpkin." "I'll take a small one then," he responded. I then asked "for here or to go?" "Here" he stated.

I walked away and let out the breath that I didn't realize I was holding. As the latte was mixing I walked around and made sure everyone had what they wanted. I went back to the counter and finished making the pumpkin spice latte. I took a deep breath and walked over to him. I set his cup on the table. I was surprised at how steady my hand were. After I set it down I asked "is there anything else I can get you?" He looked at me and smiled and replied "Valerie, right?" I nodded, he continued "yes, there is. I'm sorry I left the way I did yesterday and I would like to make it up to you." I then said "no, it's quit alright, I understand." I smiled a fake smile that I was all to good at.

I went to turn around but Roland grabbed my hand and I couldn't help but gasp. I felt the same fire I felt yesterday at the mall and the park. He then said "so you feel it too?" I shook my head no, he then let go of my hand. I walked away. He sat there for a few hours drinking his coffee and minding his own business. I checked on him every once in awhile but he never needed anything. It was almost time for me to leave when he came up to the counter and simply asked "how much do I owe you?" He only had the small pumpkin spice latte so I rang him up and gave him his change. Which he gave right back to me for a tip.

Roland was walking out the door. As the afternoon waitress was walking in. So I put on my coat and clocked out. I went outside and started to walk away but someone grabbed my waist and pushed me into the ally between the cafe and the little antique shop next door. I felt my back hit the wall and looked to see Roland in front me. I just looked at him not totally sure what to say. He leaned close to me and whispered in my ear "I know you feel it, I'm not stupid." I was to busy trying to catch my breath to respond.

I knew I should be scared, after all someone I don't even know has me in an alley pushed u against a wall. I knew I should be but I also knew he wouldn't hurt me. I then replied "I do feel it..." I didn't get a chance to continue because he kissed me. The kiss set me on fire like I was flying to close to the sun and I was burning up. It felt like heaven and hell all in one.
