Kalani PoV

My feet felt light as I ran through the tower, stopping every once in a while to examine something. My new home was beautiful. The white walls had been covered with murals, depicting events such as the Elemental Awakening, the choosing, and more. There was a huge training gym, filled to the brim with exercise equipment and other things to help us control our powers. The dorms were pretty big too, even though there were two people to a room. My roommate was a girl named Kisa. Her twin brother, Kiel, was a Fire chief, which was really cool. Best of all were the portals in every dorm. They would take us from place to place every day, and we could use them to go to town as well, so long as we had permission.
Suddenly, a voice boomed through the tower. "Skyler Frieze and Kalani Tsonga, please report to the Lunyasqe infirmary immediately." Curious, I ran to the portal and cried,"Lunyasqe infirmary!" There was a flash, and I felt myself dissolve into a million pieces. Almost immediately, I was in a big, bright room. Skyler and the others stood beside me, looking around. "Children, follow me!" We fell into step behind the nurse, asking questions.
"What's going on?" "Where's Jax and Avani?" "Are we in trouble?" She ignored us, stopping at a closed-off corner. "In here!" She threw open the curtain and we gasped. Avani was up on a table, arms wrapped around a stiff, pale Jax.The most shocking thing was that his upper arms and torso were covered with scars. He didn't acknowledge us, instead just staring off into space. I was first to jump up on the table and join the hug, then the others followed. Finally seeming to realize we were there, he sank into us and closed his eyes, a stilted sigh escaping his lips.
Suddenly, two other people joined the embrace. I turned my head to see two kids, about eleven or twelve years old. The girl had shining golden eyes, which contrasted with the boy's sparkly violet. They smiled sadly, tears streaming down their cheeks. After we all broke apart, I turned to them. "Who are you?"
The girl smiled through her tears. "I'm Genie, and this is my friend Jake." Skyler scoffed. "Why are you crying? Someone steal your teddy bears?" Nixie slugged him in the arm. "Skyler, don't be rude!" The boy -er, Jake-, laughed a little. "To answer your question, we're crying because we-" "Are very sensitive to other's pain and should be in the Tower of Dreams with Masher," Maestro Higuel cut in, shooing them away. They groaned, but scampered off.
I looked at Jax, curious. "Jax...where did you get all those scars?" He flinched, then hung his head. "My...my father and brother..." Ember growled. "I'm gonna kill them!" Skyler facepalmed. "You don't even know their names, idjit!" The redhead winced. "Oh, yeah. Oops." Before anyone could say anything else, a doctor entered the room. "Hello Jax, my name is Dr. Bedore. It's very nice to meet you. Now, we did some tests in your brain waves, and the biggest one came back positive." "What?" Maestro Higuel said. The doctor smiled softly. "The one that came back positive was...Autism. Jax, you have Asperger's Syndrome as well as Sensory Processing Disorder. This, of course, doesn't mean that there's something wrong with you, just that your brain is wired differently than the others. You're more sensitive to sounds, smells, lights, and textures, among other things. You may also require extra help with things, such as buttons and tying things." "How can we help?!" Nixie exclaimed. The doctor smiled. "Well..."

Heyo! So, late chapter, but...eh. This chapter is dedicated to ArtfulNihilism, who hasn't been having a very good day. If you wanna, and if they don't object, send some love their way, or follow them! They seem like a very good person overall and I haven't read any of their writing yet, but I'm sure it's great! Also, a little extra something is also being published tonight! Bye!
