(Go figure, the blurry scene😅😂)
"You remember to bring the repellent?"
"Of course, Papa!"
"That's my smart little girl!", the man with jet black hair grinned at his daughter.
Spraying themselves with the repellent, they walked into the jungle.
"What do you think? Isn't she a beauty, Yi?", the little girl's father asked.
"Mm-hm! She's beautiful!", his daughter looked around, smiling.
"Of course, but not as beautiful as my little princess!", her father picked her up and twirled her around, being careful so her hiking bag wouldn't fall off.
"Daddy!", the little girl giggled.
After walking some more, the little girl started to feel scared. "Daddy, is the village there yet?", she asked worriedly.
"It's all right, Yi. We're almost there", her father turned around with a Yeti head. She screamed.
"Gah!", Yi woke up with a start. Pearl was in front of her, looking at her with curious eyes. "Oh, it's you Pearl", Yi gave a sigh of a relief. Her head was still pounding. She looked around the green. She and Pearl had stopped to take a break. It was almost nightfall and they had no shelter in case it rained -until they found a hole surrounded by twigs and leafy vines. It looked as if it was dug up for people who wanted to sleep in a burrow. It was in a pretty good condition too; no dead insects, no moisture, no mud. Just the fecund smell and nice leafy spot. Plus, it was under a huge shady tree.
Pearl gave Yi a huge leaf with blueberries, bugs, tea leaves and Chrysanthemum. She looked behind the baby and saw flowers, tea leaves and some blueberry bushes "Aww Pearl! You shouldn't have! Thanks!", Yi chuckled at the Yeti, putting the bugs on the dirt to scurry away and ate the blueberries. The tea leaves were a bit bitter since normally it would be soaked in water but still, it was good. The Chrysanthemum petals didn't taste much, and she had to pick out the pistil. But overall it was a good breakfast. "10 out of 10 for a Yeti breakfast, aside from the bugs", Yi complimented. Pearl laughed and hugged her.
She picked up her bag and began to walk, holding the little Yeti's hand.
Her thoughts wandered off to her dream. It was a memory of her dad when she was seven. She remembered hiking with her dad in jungles and forests, besides playing violin. Suddenly, she recalled something. She looked around the jungle.
'Wait a minute', she thought. 'This is the exact same jungle I went with Dad!'
She ran ahead while Pearl followed her, confused. She went towards her tree and ran her hand on the bark. No ants, just a carved heart with the letters 'D + D'. This was the exact same jungle she and her dad had hiked! Her dad carved this. "Dad and daughter", she murmured. She knew there was a village up ahead, the same one Jin came across. She had to get a boat to meet him and Peng at the other village. She knew this jungle like the back of her hand. She knew how to get out. She grabbed Pearl and held her tight. Then she bolted, jumping over large roots and avoiding twisting vines. She even encountered a snake and threw a rock to distract it. Luckily it bought the distraction and slithered with speed towards the other direction as Yi ran as fast as she could.
By the time she was out, her hair had a few leaves, her cheek had a small scratch where she had unfortunately slammed into a branch. Also, her shoes, socks and tights were muddy. And she was sweating.
An old man looked at her, puzzled. "Are you all right, young lady?", he asked in concern.
"Yes sir, I'm fine", Yi replied, scanning the area. Light sandy ground, wooden houses, canoe-like boats. Perfect.
