p r e f a c e :

ONCE upon a time, there was a desperate girl in need of a boyfriend. That's right, I'm desperate. Joking, I'm not that desperate. I mean I've known some girls who are desperate for a boyfriend, not that it's a bad thing or anything, I just, think they should wait.

"Carter Ashton Evans!" And I'm in trouble and I hate when my mum uses my first name and she knows that. I turn around and see my mum holding a chicken. What in the living hell is she fucking doing? I motion for her to go on. "Oh nothing, you just seemed to space off again. You seem to do that a lot dear. I'm starting to think that there's something wrong with you."

I frown, pouting a bit. "Now don't pout at me. C'mere, let me slap you with this chicken, so it can be all prep-ed—"

"Yeah, okay, not happening mum. Why don't you asked Haley or Asher," I ask her as I walk over to her to get some crisps.

"Because you seem to have a nice round arse,"

I choke on my saliva. "Mum! We do not say things like that," I look around. "Especially not in the house with my friends being here."

"Oh those kids. Don't worry about them sweetie. They understand," she says. I frown, thinking and then sigh. I grab some drinks and crisps and go back to the dean. "Carter—" - "It's Ashton—" - "Come back here! Don't you dare put all that junk food in your system—actually go ahead! Your bum will get nice and big! And I'm sorry for calling you Carter!"

I sigh, shaking my head as I walk into the room. I throw Michael some candy and Calum a bag of crisps. "Your mum wasn't kidding when she said you have a nice round arse," Michael comments. I let the snacks drop out of my arms.

"I give up! I'm going to search how to make my arse look flatter," I say as I sit on the couch.

"Love its not a bad thing," Calum says. I sigh and frown.

"So how's your love life dumbwits," I ask them as I open a bag of potato crisps.

"Um, it's alright. I mean nothing new," Michael says. I nod my head.

"My bed and I are doing just fine," Calum says. Michael snorts, shaking his head. "Joking, Jackie and I are okay actually. Nothing new—also she wants to know if you guys want to have like a triple date or some shit like that."

"Triple? Who else is going," I ask as I eat a potato crisp.

"Ashton and Dani," Michael says. I nod my head. "We'd invite you, but you don't want to be the seventh wheel."

"No it's fine," I say, drinking some Coke.

"You don't mind if we go to Danny's while you're working right?" I shake my head. "Good because your serving us and you'll put it on the house."

I laugh, chuckling afterwards. "Yeah, sure. Ha, we'll see about that Calum.

School is such a bore. I get it, we need an education, but seriously dudes, you don't need to start school so early, if you know what I mean. Getting up at six or five to get ready and then school starts at seven or eight, yeah that's too much work.

I grab my English book from my locker and my reading book. I close my locker and put my reading book in my bag, then walk off to my English class. I hate honour classes, but sometimes they're fun. People think you get more homework, but nope, we actually rarely get homework since most of us finish our work in cl—

"Watch it freak—" They say as I bump into them. I stumble back, my book and glasses falling. I'm not blind, I just need them to read.

"Sorry," I say as I gather my thing. I hear a breaking sound, please don't tell me that bitch broke my glasses. I look over and sigh. At least I can get knew ones and people will stop calling me Harry Potter. I grab my broken, glasses, but not before seeing him. Oh great that bitch broke them. I mentally thank him and grab my book and walk to English.

I walk in and practically slam my book against the desk. "Having a rough morning Miss Evans,"

"Well I don't having reading glasses since someone broke them," I say as he walks in through the door. He frowns and takes his seat. "Can I call my mum please?"

Mr Stiles nods his head and I take out my phone and dial my mum. "Ashton? Dear what's wrong—are you ready for your chicken slapping," I mentally groan cause it's on speaker. He chuckles and I shoot him a glare.

"No mum, I need new glasses. I.. uh, accidentally broke them," I say.

"My god. You're lucky your grandfather left you his will. I'll schedule an appointment and be careful next to Carter," damn it. "Ashton I mean, whatever. Have fun in hell."

"Thanks mum," I hang up and I put my phone away. I get ready for this dreading day.

It's a Friday night and here I am working at Danny's. I still can't believe he broke my fucking glasses. I hear the bell ring. I grab some menu's, when I see my friends and him. I grab seven menu's and then I get an idea. I walk over to them and I set the menu's down and I sit next to Luke.

"Sorry about your glasses—"

"It's fine Lukey," I cringe. "Go along with it." I whisper. I intertwine our fingers together and put them ontop of the table.

"Thanks Ash," Ashton says. I smile and nod.

"You guys didn't tell me you were having dinner with my boyfriend. I thought you didn't want me being the seventh wheel, but here you have Luke with you guys. I feel loved," I tell them as I play Luke's with ring.

"Boyfriend? You're lying. Luke would never date someone like you," Michael says. Silver smacks Michael on the arm.

"You can't say things like that Michael Gordon Clifford," Michael huffs. "Don't listen to him, you're beautiful Ash."

Luke and I snort and I glare at him. "How long have you two been dating? I'm positive that just a few days ago, I saw Luke fucking Cindy in the janitors closet,"

I let go of Luke's hand, shit. "Well thanks Ashton for that lovely comment, I didn't know you were in there," I say standing up. "I have work to do."

"Damn dude. You fucked up," Calum says. Well that plan backfired.

"Any drinks before I leave," I say, my hands shaking a bit. "Actually I know what you want, um, Luke what would you like to drink?"

"Can I talk to you... Princess?" Luke asks, looking up at me. Stupid beautiful blue eyes.

I look at my notepad. "I don't know, can you," I ask him.

"I'll take strawberry smoothie and we are talking this out. I'm not going to loose you," Luke says, standing up, taking my hand and leading me outside. I turn around and I see Calum glaring at Luke. I turn back around and Luke pushes the door and goosebumps rise on my flesh. I rub my arms. "Are you doing this because I broke your glasses?"

"No! I'm glad you broke my glasses, I only said that because they've been bugging me about being single and how I'm going to be a forty-year-old virgin with sixty-nine cats,"

Luke chuckles and I rub my arms. He takes his jacket off and hands it to me. "Here, you're cold," I blush and I take it. It's his Varsity Letterman. He never lets anyone wear it.

"Thanks Luke," he nods.

"So you want me to be your fake boyfriend?"

I nod my head. "Yeah.. um, can you please? I'll do anything?"

He gives me a smirk. "Anything?"

I sigh, but nod my head. "Yeah, anything,"

He stills has that smirk on his face and slowly nods. "Okay then girlfriend,"

"Thanks boyfriend,"

He takes my hand and we walk back in. "We're going to have to set some ground rules," I roll my eyes, but dont' say anything.
