This chapter is dedicated to you all who are still reading this story and didn't give up on it.

Clary planned on telling Izzy about her pregnancy before anyone else could, but Izzy went on a date with Simon last night so Clary couldn't tell her. In the end, she decided to wait after breakfast the next day. After everyone left, Izzy and she stayed to wash dishes. "Izzy?" Clary asked nervously. "Hmm?" Izzy didn't look at her, she just continued to wash the plate. "I've got big news." Izzy's eyes darted to Clary's face. "Wait, me too." Izzy went silent for a moment before speaking again. "Simon asked me to marry him." Clary felt her heart skip a beat. Her two best friends are going to get married. Clary jumped around Izzy's neck, almost choking her. "Oh my god Izzy, that's great, Congrats." "I know, right?" Izzy replied excitedly. After a moment Izzy pulled away. "Now, your news." Izzy raised a curious eyebrow about what Clary's big news could be. "I'm pregnant." Izzy clapped her hands together excitedly. "Oh my- Clary that's." The air around them whirled as a fire message flew. Clary caught it and read out loud. "Mr. and Mrs. Herondale, Mr. Lightwood-Bane, Mrs. Lightwood. We require your presence in Alicante to take a trial with the soul sword. You are being accused of breaking the law. If you don't follow this order your position as heads of New York Institute and clave members will be annulled and you will be declared enemies of Nephilim. Your punishment for ignoring this order will be either spending the rest of your life in Gard or beheading. It's in your own well being to follow this order." Clary just looked at the message wide-eyed. She had no idea how is it possible that they were accused of breaking the law. After all, they did nothing wrong. "Clary," Izzy started, her lips trembling slightly, "what did you do?" "I-I don't know what this is about, We didn't break any law." "Clary, Shadowhunters are getting beheaded only for the worst of crimes. Crimes like killing one of our own, uniting with demons, selling information to demons, killing mundane..." "Jace," Clary said as she realized. "What's up with Jace?" "He killed a mundane. Yesterday." Izzy's jaw dropped in shock. She would've never thought that Jace would kill a mundane. Clary noticed so she continued. "The mundane, he was possessed. I thought that when the mundane was possessed it would not hurt the mundane. But, Jace's sword. It fell apart after he killed the mundane." "Si in gladio excindo est pura cor illud nequaquam ut obvious quia illud no diutius servio coelum." "What does that mean?" "It means: If a sword destroys pure heart it shall be destroyed because it no longer serves heaven. Clary killing a mundane is the second-worst crime to commit. You'll have to go through a lot of trials by soul sword." Clary scrunched up her nose in confusion. " I thought I broke it?" Izzy let out a small laugh. "Well, Clary I don't want to underestimate your powers, but an angel gave that sword to Shadowhunters." "Izzy, I think we all should go. Magnus is making a portal for us downstairs." Alec announced walking into the kitchen.

When they were walking down the streets of Alicante everyone was turning their heads in their direction their faces void of any emotion. When they appeared at the Gard the guards immediately grabbed Clary and shoved her forward. "Hey, it's my wife, be more careful." The guards just sniffled and continued shoving her forward. When they led her into the trial room Jia Penhallow was already waiting for her. "Welcome Clarissa, I don't believe you did anything wrong, but unfortunately, you have to take the trial. Please, stand behind the sword and put your hands on it. Clary followed her instructions and as soon as she put her fingers on the blade it lit up with golden light, just as she remembered. "The first question, did you ever hurt any mundane?" Clary thought back to that time she kicked Kyle Westman in the balls, but that was while she didn't know she was a Shadowhuntress. "No, I did  not." Second question, where were you when the incident happened?" "I was on the hunt with Jace and Alec. We got information that there were some demons that killed one mundane and hurt two of them." Jia Penhallow furrowed her brows. "There were no injured mundanes, only mysteriously killed Shadowhunter with no traces of runes. What happened on the hunt?" "There was this man. He was possessed and was chanting in some demon language. It wasn't any ordinary demon language. It was darker and more ancient. He said something about being locked up for thousands of years and about me being blessed by the angel and weapon of the light. It doesn't make sense to me." Jia Penhallows' face drained out of color at Clary's last words. She quickly grabbed her by her upper arm and pulled her towards the door. "Wait, where are you taking m-" "Clary, the words of that man are far more dangerous than what you would think. This demon just signed your and your child's fate." Clary got confused, how could Jia know when she didn't tell her. "How can y-"Jia's face had gone white when she heard footsteps. Moments later Jolaine's striking blonde hair came to the view. Jia let out a breath of relief. "Jolaine, take her-" "to the judging chamber." Kortaine Stormstone announced from behind them with a daring look pointed at Jia. Jia let go of Clary's arm and smiled sadly at her as Jolaine with tears shimmering in her grey eyes took hold of Clary's arm and pushed her towards the judging room.
