Catalina backed out of the room still watching Javier and Sebastian. When she reached the door, she pulled it open and ran to her room. She called her father and did her best to explain what happened without breaking down in tears. To say the least he was furious and was coming to get her himself.
She hung up the phone and locked the door. She began packing all of her important things, she knew that she couldn't possibly take everything with her tonight. Halfway through her packing, her eyes began to blur with tears and she slumped to the floor. She pulled her knees up to her chest and hugged herself tightly. She rocked herself lightly, and told herself that everything would be alright.
She didn't know how long she sat there just rocking slowly but when she heard yelling and then someone pounding on the door she was brought back from her thoughts.
"Catalina! Catalina are you in there? " her father asked, his voice loud and laces with concern.
"Catalina, open the door! Please! " he begged.
She got up and unlocked the door. When she saw her father she threw herself into his arms. Her father held her in his arms tightly and away from Javier who was standing in the hallway.
Everything was just a blur now, the voices she heard were all whispers and incomprehensible. All she knew was that her father was yelling at Javier and picking up her things.
Javier stood just outside of their bedroom and was telling her father what a pathetic liar his daughter was and that he never wanted to see her again.
"Our business deal... This marriage is over!" he yelled, air quoting the part about their marriage.
Catalina's father handed her bags to the chauffeur and picked her up, She was just so dazed.
Javier watched Catalina being carried away and for a second thought that maybe this wasn't just some act she was putting up. After all she had been found out already, she could drop the act. But he shook his head and crushed those thoughts. She was acting and doing a great job of it, that's what he would tell himself to destroy the doubt he had.
Her father placed her across the backseat of the car and put her head on his lap. He brushed her hair out of her face and whispered how sorry he was for making her live there in that house with him.
As the car began to move down the driveway, a single tear fell down her cheek and everything went black.
When they arrived back at her parents home she was still asleep, her father carried her in and up to her old bedroom. He pulled the sheets over her and kissed her forehead lightly. Her mother stood at the foot of her bed with tears in her eyes.
"Gabriel please tell me you are going to do something about this. If this isn't fixed no other man will have her. " he mother cried.
"That's enough! This is not the time." he whispered firmly and walked out of the room.
Her mother gasped but didn't say another word as she walked out behind him. She cared for her daughter but sometimes she cared more about what people in society would think.
She didn't know the while story of what happened but her father did. He was furious at what those bastards did to his daughter. He wasn't one to show his feelings but when it concerned his daughter, he let them be known.
"They will pay!" her father whispered furiously to himself as he paced his office. He thought of ways to hurt Javier and Sebastian but he concluded that maybe calling the cops was his better solution. It was late, so he decided that calling the cops would be the first thing he did in the morning.
