Eon sat upon a round table among other corporate employees of A New Era. A hologram was being projected at the center, showing them the artificial intelligence doing their bidding. "Now E.T.H.R. has done its part, but is not yet to be terminated." Eon said to the crew. "And why might that be?" Rita spoke up. Myles was next to her. The older man agreed, they both believed that the artificial intelligence was no longer of use to them. "Because, Dr. Baldwin, did you really not think that it is possible for people to find ways to survive TEOTWAWKI? People always find a way. Ether's job is not yet finished. It was employed to destroy." Eon replied to her. Rita seemed quite confused. "I wasn't... I mean... I apologize sir, but the survival rate of a nuclear explosion isn't my specialty." She said. "Your lack of common sense angers me." Eon told her, shutting off the projection. He stood, about to speak again when they were interrupted by a knock at the door.
"Enter." Myles called out. Andy nervously opened the door. "Doctors Wheeler and Baldwin? I'm so sorry to interrupt, but Heather Edwards' appendix ruptured and someone needs to operate. Even with medical operations being relieved we still need to help her." He said. Melanie brushed past him. "I wanna do it! It's been too long since my last surgery even if it's simple as this, I need it." She spoke fast. Rita and Myles stood. "Fine, you can scrub in. Doctor Wheeler will be there with you. And take a resident!" Rita told Melanie. "Of course," she replied, "Which one?" She asked. Rita shook her head and rolled her eyes. "Michelle. The smart one. Go!" She ordered them to leave, but Andy stood awkwardly in the doorway. "What are you still doing here?" Rita asked, annoyed. "Um. One more thing. Doctor Shanty is in the middle of removing a tumor. He did not request permission." Andy responded.
"Pregnant Shanty?" Rita asked, becoming angered. "No," Andy said. "Patrick. Patrick Shanty." Then Rita hurried to leave. "I am very sorry, Eon, sir. But I have to go, one of my doctors is being a great disappointment. Excuse me." She left the room, along with Andy. Ilian turned back to the crew after granting her exit. "Meeting is adjourned." He told them.
In the WinterCell bunker, Jennifer was using a walker to roam the halls. The alcohol she had had over the years was doing a number on her liver, and the amount of tequila she had two days ago wasn't helping. Lance nearly passed by her. Him on the other hand, was doing just fine. "Hey, you doing okay?" He asked, slowing himself. "My liver is just being a pussy and apparently I can't walk right, Whitecker says I have to keep this thing until I feel better." Jennifer explained. "And what exactly is 'feeling better' to you?" Lance asked. Jen stopped, "I think it's whenever I see fit but once again, Whitecker says it's when I stop passing in and out of consciousness." She said, smiling to him.
Suddenly, she felt dizzy, and lost her balance. Lance caught her. "Woah, careful. Maybe you should sit down." Lance guided her to a bench, propping her against the wall. "Will you be okay here? I'm going to go talk to Magna. Get some rest." Lance said. Jennifer began to close her eyes. "Yeah. I'll just... take a little nap for a while." She said quietly, then drifted off to sleep.
Jennifer's Dream; Seven Years Ago
The woman's eyes slowly opened, awakening gently in her silk sheets of her diamond encrusted king sized bed. Sighing, she turned over, seeing a man in his underwear snoring next to her. She sprung up. "Milo!!" She exclaimed. The man woke up. "Did we...? Again...?" Jennifer asked. Milo groaned a little then smiled. "I suppose we did, my Queen." He teased. Jen rolled her eyes and pushed him off the bed. He shouted in surprise. "I can't keep doing this. It's bad for my reputation if anybody finds out." Jen said and Milo managed to stand. "Then we just won't tell anyone." He told her. She didn't respond. Milo sat on the bed and put his hand on her cheek. They were about the same age, late forties. He then proceeded to kiss her. They both closed their eyes. Jen could feel his moderate amount of facial hair brush against her chin.
