Hanji's POV

I handled everything. Everything was down to self-defense. Though Levi confessed me that drowning crime he had done, I let it go. What he said... had me investigate into the girls he knew. They all confessed a similar story. They each had a belonging missing and Gunther mysteriously had it. That was when they saved themselves, until Gunther convinced them to give it all to him. He moved onto the next girl when he had his fill.

There was no explanation for Erwin. I explained what he had tried to do with me in the car, and my boyfriend saw me and aided me. I explained that there was more stab wounds because it was the fact that there was so much chaos in it, he suffered his own wounds and didn't know when to stop. Levi was let go, leaving with a self-defense note. He wouldn't be charged of murder.

But there was something that intrigued me that night. How he told me that it was his whole family that was cursed. So of course, I began to worry about the unborn child in me. Even without a test, I could feel the changes instantly. I really was changing.

So I began to do some research on the Ackerman bloodline. All I know was that they were a faint legacy at this university. Not well-known, but they were in the history books. Everything I thought that it was a lead, it lead to a dead end.

It was peculiar that it was this night a letter was sent to me. Levi was recovering from his wounds in bed when it was delivered. How to explain the letter? Well, it was hand-written. Messy and practically written in such a hurried manner. I didn't even get a glimpse of the person who sent it. Quietly, I read the note aloud:

"Miss Hanji, my dear. I know exactly whatcha doin' here. Findin' a cure for the little rat. To tell ya the truth, there is none. But since ya are trainin' to be a scientist studyin' DNA, why don't ya look directly into the DNA and see what damage there is. It'll be hard to find a solution, my dear. He's cursed, and so is that child stored in ya."

"Kenny..." I jumped when I heard his cold voice. I turned to see him groggily opening his eyes. His hand was bandaged up, yet bloody a bit. Reminds me I have to change them now. "His name's Kenny... I know that tone of voice."

I nodded my head, reaching for the gauze. I sat next to Levi, carefully unwrapping his hand. "A curse... and no cure, huh? I'll find a way to make sure you don't feel like that. Make sure you won't kill without me telling you to stop. It's dangerous. You could get caught and be sent to jail."

"If it means that you and the baby can survive, I'll do anything for you."

I shook my head, sighing. "When you're well enough to be on your feet, I'm gonna take you to the lab and test your DNA. I'll search through it all to see which parts of it is damaged, Levi. I am gonna find a cure and end this Ackerman curse."

He reached out to me, kissing my soft lips. When I saw him murder the man who tried to do unimaginable things with me, I was fearing him. But again, he was this teddy bear. He was someone I would want to protect me. A perfect guy to most, but a killer inside. It was just dormant inside of him until something forces him to snap. I can't believe these were the same people... his murderous side and this kind side he shows to me.

"Levi... believe me..."

"Hanji, it's not that. I'm fine the way I am. I feel human around you. As long as I'm around you, I promise, I will listen to you at all cost. That's never gonna change."

"But the baby..." I pleaded softly as I quickly tossed the used bandages and grabbed the newer ones. Tightly as I could, I wrapped them to ensure that he doesn't get his hand infected. "Even if you're normal around me, what about the baby?"

"It depends on who they decide on... and the way we eliminate people depends on who we are as well. Some of my family members tend to be manipulative to push their rivals away. Some are like me: using violence."

I shook my head, frightened at the idea of what I've gotten myself into. I just fell in love with a boy who gotten me to kiss him on the first night I met him. A few months later, he ends up with 2 kills and I gotten myself pregnant.

"Don't worry, I will always uphold my promise with you. That's my Ackerman promise, my love."
