"So what do you do for a living?" I ask him as we're walking to my favorite coffeehouse and Spencer chuckles.

"I am a federal agent, currently part of the behavioral analysis unit." He presses his lips into a thin line playing the game and I nod.

"So, profiler?" I smile and he nods, but I get the feeling he is suddenly feeling sad.

"What about you?" He asks genuinely interested.

"Oh, I probably shouldn't tell you this, but I work for the mob." I say with my most serious face and he furrows his brows looking at my hands.

"For the mob? Really? Which one?" he smiles seeing my thumb playing with my knuckles.

"Oh, uhm, the russian one." I bite my lip and he chuckles.

"Interesting, I didn't know you speak Russian. So what do you do for the mob?" He asks me and I click my tongue deciding to really play my chosen role.

"Я ищу места, где они могут спрятать свое оружие (I search for places where they can hide their weapons.) " I chuckle and his face changes completely. I had a lot of moments when I got bored while Faith was a baby and so I learned Russian.

"Конечно, вы делаете (of course you do)" He smiles and I close my eyes chuckling.

"I forgot you speak Russian." before I realize what I was thinking, the words left my mouth. Spencer nods looking at me and I have no idea what he is thinking about, but I know that face and I know he is not comfortable right now. "I started my own cybersecurity firm, I am my own and single employee and I run my firm from home." I say trying to defuse the tension that started to raise between us.

"That's amazing, I figured you work from home as soon as I saw your office." Spencer tells me and I furrow my brows. "The door was open and while you were in the kitchen making coffee, I saw your own Penelope Garcia room", he adds explaining and I smile seeing we got to the coffeehouse.

"Yeah, well I figured it will be best to stay at home so I can be close to my daughter." I tell Spencer as we get in and he nods.

"You don't really trust people, do you?" He asks knowing all too well the answer to my question and I chuckle shaking my head no as we take a sit at a table. I see Brenda, the usual waiter come to our table and I smile to her.

"Morning guys, do you need menus?" She asks us holding the menus in her hands and me and Spencer both shake our heads.

"Can you bring me a black regular coffee?" Spencer smiles to her and she nods.

"And Ares, for you? The usual?" Brenda asks me and I wink nodding.

"Thank you Brenda." I smile and when my eyes move back to Spencer I notice him pursing his lips.

"God of war who depicts sheer brutality, huh?" Spencer asks quite disappointed. "Athena would have been the better choice." he continues trying to understand why I picked the name I did.

"I was thinking more about his Roman counterpart, but Mars made me think of chocolate too much." I laugh knowing Spence knows that Mars was considered a guardian deity too and was more valued by Romans than Ares by Greeks. There it is, the sound that I never thought I would hear again. They say that the first thing you forget about someone is their voice and it is true as the first thing that started to slip from my memory was his voice. Hearing his giggle brought back so many memories that is hard to hide my nostalgia and he knows it all too well.

"We can't do this, can we? As much as we'd try to pretend that we don't know each other, it's too hard not to let our brain follow the patterns it knows all too well." He speaks and I nod feeling bad because for some reason I really wanted this to work.
