I decided to skip school the next day.

I was seriously tired from last night, especially because I got screwed over and got my credit ripped out from under me. I was lying in my bed, looking up at my ceiling when I got a text.

Tori: Girl, where r u?

Me: At home

Tori: R U comin 2 skool?

Me: No, tired

Tori: OK sleep wel & txt me l8r

I put my phone down and rolled over in my bed. I checked the date. October 1. Perfect! Rent is due today. And as if my landlord could read my mind, I heard a knock at the door.

I walked over to the door and opened it, check ready in hand. I handed my landlord Mr. Taylor the check, and immediately closed the door. "What, no good morning? Nothin?" I heard him say through the door, "Girl always in a bad mood." I rolled my eyes at that last bit.

I walked over to my laptop and Google searched: suspicious fires in Gotham. More results popped up than I would have hoped. However even among the humongous amount of results one in particular caught my interest.

There was a fire about a week ago, and it was only four blocks from my apartment. I wonder why I never heard anything on the news about this? I came to the conclusion that I was going to follow this lead.

The fire would be the third fire in East End in the last 3 months. It happened at a club. However, this fire did not completely destroy the club.

When I got off the bus I could clearly tell that I was not going to be able to get inside. The police still had it tapped off. This is not going to easy as I thought it would be. I stood at the bus stop and contemplated my options.

Then out the corner of my eye I notice something. A man. He looked super suspicious, like he did not want to be seen. Like someone on the run. I watched him for a bit until he ducked under the police tape and into the building. I followed.

I know what you're thinking. That following this guy into a burned building that probably will crumple under its damaged structure possibly killing me, was a stupid idea. It is a stupid idea, and I am kind of thinking that I should have thought this plan out better.

I tailed him throughout the building making sure that I was not seen nor heard. He kept looking over his shoulder which made this whole situation more difficult. Why is this man so jumpy? I thought, remembering that he had a pretty good reason to be jumpy, he had someone following him.

The man was looking through a drawer when his cell phone rung, loudly. He jumped almost falling on his butt. He fumbled with the thing for a few seconds until he answered it. "-ello?" he greeted panicked.

The person on the other hand must be saying something aggravating because his exspression only got more panicked. "What do you mean? I have the papers right here!" He waved the papers he pulled out of the drawer through the air. "No, I don't think anyone saw me. How could I cheack? I can't do two things at once! What? The Batman doesn't operate in the day. Im sure! Okay, I'm leaving." He hung up the phone and slammed the drawer closed. All this for some papers? I thought to myself as he walked away, towards my direction.

I tried to move, but he already saw me. "Who are you?" He yelled as he tried to grab me. I pulled away from him and ran away. He chased after me, through the building. I hid in a room and locked the door. I pulled my phone out and called 911.

        "Hello, 911, what's your emergency?"

"Some crazy killer dude is chasing me!" I wispered.

"I know you are around here somewhere." I heard the guy say through the door. I regret not bringing anything to protect myself.

        "Where are you?"

"Eastern Club. Its the one that was on fire a week ago." I said nervously fumbling with my mother's necklance.

        "Okay, we-

I hung up because I heard footsteps close to the door. I hope that they send someone. The footsteps were getting closer, but I did not here any voice.

The footsteps stopped at I covered my mouth, so he couldn't hear my breathing. This was such a bad idea!!! At that point I was crying. I heard a knock at the door. I did not answer. The knock started again. "Excuse me miss," a deep voice said, "I don't think that guy will be any trouble for you anymore."

I got up and slowly turned the knob. I opened the door no one was there. No creeper and no person that knocked on the door. I stepped forward and stepped in a piece of paper. I picked it up.

That was a close call, I advise you not to get invloved.

The note was handwritten and was not signed. I folded the note and stuck it in my pocket. I certaintly wasn't giving up now. I just need to come up with a plan B.

I made my way to Tori's house.
