Chapter Three

One week and three days, Doctor Moore checked my left leg after I reported to her about that little dropped on the floor yesterday. She x-rayed my leg and told me,

"What did you feel after the drop?" Doctor Moore said,

"There's a slight pain but still manageable. Do you think that's something to worry?" I asked.

"Nope! Actually, what you felt yesterday is just a minor effect because of the treatments that we apply. No worries, but next time you should still be careful if you don't want to lose those leg." She said and smirk at the last words.

"Yea! I'll keep that in mind." I said smirking.

Later that day, my phone unexpectedly rang that made me rattle to answer.

"Hello? Who is this?" I said overwhelmed.

"Hey! It's just me, Maya?" Of course, I forgot to check the caller ID. "Are you, okay?" She asked,

"Yea! I'm fine!" I answered going back to my regular tune as usual. "You called, so what made you call?" I added.

"Hmmm… Just checking out if your actually on your room that when you opened it…" The call hangup and I grab my clutches and slowly opened the door when,

"Surprise!" I saw Maya holding a cake and there I saw Clark, Janella his girlfriend, Brenda, Lana, Drake, Russel and Stella. I miss them so much. I stood there smiling but my head tries to flash back the memory when we surprised Arielle on her birthday.

"Happy birthday, Roran!" Clark said and gave me a hug.

"Thank you so much for coming here!" I said still surprised.

"Happy birthday, Mr. Sanders!" Maya said that made me remember Arielle.

"I remember, Arielle about that." I said smiling and she hugged me,

"We always do!" She answered.

"By the way, maybe we can go check Arielle." Lana said that made me speechless. Did they thought that she's still here?

"Actually… Arielle is not here." I simply answered but frowning.

"What?" Brenda said shocked.

"Yes! Her parents bring her to California to recover but till now, I don't have any updates from her." I said.

"We thought she's still here?" Lana said.

"Don't worry, she'll be alright." Maya said, "Besides, Arielle is a strong fighter and she'll get through this." She added with a stuttering tune.

When they all enjoy the food I go talk to Maya about what she said earlier, I know she meant something there.

"Hey!" I said,

"Hey! Did you like my pasta?" Maya asked.

"Yea!" I answered, "Hmmm… About what you said earlier to Arielle, what's that mean?" I said straight to the point. She hesitate to give me an eye contact instead she just look down.

"It's true! She's fine and whatever had happened I know she's doing well right now." Maya said refusing to take a long conversation about it.

"Maya, are you keeping something from me?" I added.

"No! Of course not!" Maya answered, "You know what, I know you since then, you are a very courageous guy and I hope you understand." She added,

"I know, you knew it." I said. "You knew why her parents brought her away from me, because of what happened." I said.

"No! It's not that, Roran!" She added,

"Then tell me why?" I said almost raising my voice.

"Roran, I can't understand it for you but I swear, I don't awe you an explanation." Maya said, "Arielle, must be the only one to tell you why." She said.

I noticed everyone is already paying their attention at us. Maya, go out the room and Stella gave me a worried face. The moment that I guess my so not good birthday celebration ended, Stella decided to stay for a while and have a conversation with me.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"Not sure, if I'm still alive or I'm already dead." I answered while in the middle of wool-gathering inside my head.

"That's hard. I can't give advises to that." Stella said slightly smirking.

"I don't know what happened to me, but after Arielle came into my life. She changed me." I said, "She made me realize that I need someone to lean on." I added, "But I guess, it's my fault why she's not here anymore." A tear slowly formed in my eyes.

"But you did not pushed her away." Stella said, "You even let her in inside your thoughts and on your heart." She added. "Don't blame yourself! It's not your fault why this happened. Maybe this was just a test to see how sure are you in facing your feelings and emotions." She said.

Stella's right, I'm just confused and overthinking it too much. All this time I've blamed myself, but this time I'm going to make sure what I'm really feeling about Arielle.
