"Nicole gave me a dirty look in Chem first period." I say.

"Don't worry about her. She's just jealous of us." Alex says. He turns onto the highway and speeds up.

"Yah, but I'm not looking to fight with anyone. I just wanna get through this school year." I say.

"Well, just ignore her." He says flatly. I sigh and look out the window.

When we finally pull up to his house, he get's out quickly and opens the door for me.

"Thanks," I mumble. He takes my hand and we walk inside.

"Hi Ava." Mrs. Shepherd says from the kitchen.

"Hey Mrs. Shepheard. How's your day goin'?" I ask. She sighs heavilly and shakes her head sadly.

"Bills, bills and more biils. Life is stressful honey, it get's better though. That's what I hear." She says. I watch as she puts pasta in a pot of boiling water. Alex nudges his head towards his room and I politely excuse my self.

When I'm in the room, he closes the door and plops himself on his bed. I sit in the rolling chair by his desk and sigh.

"I'm bored..." I say.

"What do you wanna do then?"

"I dont know. We could watch a movie...?"

"Nah, I dont have anything good. You wanna go get some ice-cream?" He says, flipping through an old magazine.

"I dont feel like it. I'm really tired and my stomach is killin' me!" I say. I move my hand to my mouth and gag.

"Are you alright?" He asks, looking up from the magazine with concern in his eyes. I shake my head and run towards his bathroom. I puke violently into the toilet and hear him behind me. He pulls the hair from my face and tells me he'll be right back. I continue upchucking and when I'm finished, Alex is sitting on the floor beside me with a glass of water in his hands. I take it from his thankfully and take a long gulp. He looks at me with empathy and smiles warily.

"C'mon, come lie down." He says pulling me up from the ground. I go and lie down on his bed and slowly close my eyes. I feel him lie down next to me and he brushes my bangs from my face.

"I feel like crap..." I mumble. I hear him chuckle softly and he kisses my forehead.

"Just rest a little bit. I'll wake you up when It's time to bring you home." He says. I sigh and obey.

A few hours later, I wake up and start throwing up again. Alex is no where in sight. When I finish, I go back into the room and see that it reads nine thirty. I grab my purse off his desk and quickly walk out into the living room. Mrs. Shepherd was asleep on the couch and Family Guy was playing on the TV. I sigh and look over into the kitchen, looking for Alex. I decide to just text him and I walk back into his room and sigh. He said he would wake me up! It's already getting late and my mom was gonna be real mad at me when I got home. I waited about 20 minutes and he still didn't text me back.

I decide to just leave the house and call a taxi. I can't just walk home because he lives way to far from my house and I'd have to get on the highway to get there. Just then, Alex drives up in his red toyota camry 2010 and parks in the driveway. I walk over to the drivers side of the car and put my hands on my hips. He rolls down the window and looks at me apologetically.

"Where were you!?" I yell. He sighs dramatically and tries to open the door. I stop it with my foot and give him a look.

"I got an emergency call from my friend." He says, nudging the volume up on the radio.
