Suichi Iguchi x Female Reader: Tournament (Pt 2)

Here is part two of the last oneshot. 1st person POV.

I picked up my controllers and packed them into a small bag along with a few other items such as snacks and my personal good luck charms. I then clasped my hand on the bag as Suichi leaned on the doorway. We then both carefully walked down the stairs to my worn out car.

"Oh, I can drive." Suichi said, already taking the front seat. I was a terrible driver anyway so I just got into the passenger seat without any words of hesitation. 

We were driving through the streets when I started to get a lot of stress, I thought about what may go wrong and butterflies formed in my stomach.

"I'm really nervous about the tournament." I muttered to Suichi.

"Me too, just about everyone I know will be there." He sighed and kept driving.

"What do you mean, 'everyone you know?'" 

"My family is going to be there and so are the people that I live with, there's just so much pressure, you know?" He admitted.

"Wowee, that's harsh." I said, looking downwards. 

We kept driving without saying a word to each other for what felt like forever until the car started to slow down and Suichi parked at the complex we were having the tournament at. 

I closed the car door as Suichi and I looked at the gargantuan complex as other people piled in. I started to walk in as Suichi started to do the same, with the crowd so wild and large, he held my hand tightly. I then became a bit flustered as he got a bit more close to me.

"Uh, Suichi, you're holding my hand!" 

"Huh? I am? S-Sorry, I'm not really comfortable around crowds." He replied, also becoming very flustered. 

"Uh, it's alright." I continued to hold his hand as we trudged through the crowd. We finally made it to the main stage area. A person working for the event told us to sit in some seats as everything started and we nervously sat down. Everyone looked at us with anticipation. I unpacked my bag to grab the controllers I had packed. 

As I handed a controller to Suichi, I also gave him a confident smile as he smiled back. Our opponents then arrived, they looked tough but I felt like Suichi and I were prepared. 

The first round started as it was our win. Suichi smiled as he looked at the faces of the crowd. I would guess that he was looking at his friends or family.

Unfortunately, the next two games were the other team's win. I was distraught, fourty-thousand dollars down the drain! Suichi looked at me with a depressed expression, more sad than I was.

Once the event was finished, he looked at me solemnly.

"That money was going to get me a better life. I needed it." He muttered.

"Hey, it's alright." I responded. "We can go get some food with your family or friends if you want." 

Suichi thought for a minute. "Sure, that sounds great." He responded, starting to smile.
