Anne sprinted out of the Blythe orchard as quick as her boots could carry her. Her heart was pounding as she fled, Gilbert's kiss still tingled against her lips.
She could hear his desperate calls echo in the distance.

Once she reached the gate-that separated the Blythe residence from the rest of Avonlea- she glanced back. Anne could just make out the faint outline of Gilbert Blythe pacing back and forth in a line with his head in his hands.
She sighed before turning and running on.

As she fled through the corn fields and towards the forest all she could think about were the moments prior. How scared Gilbert looked when he realised what he had said, how his lips felt connected to hers, how he had said he LOVED her. Gilbert Blythe had said he loved her.

Anne paused at the edge of the forest, panting.
What was she going to do now?
Gilbert's unintentional confession has made a royal mess of things. Nothing would be the same.

Once she regained her breath she ran on. Whizzing past the tall trees and stumbling down the rocky woodland pathway Anne finally arrived at her destination.

The Barry mansion stood tall and proud amongst the other houses in Avonlea. It was by far the grandest house.

A smile of relief etched across Anne's red face as she saw Diana's bedroom window opening, signalling she was at home.

She wiped the sweat off her freckled forehead and attempted to calm down the mess the wind had created within her auburn hair before she quickly walked towards the front door.

"and then he said he loved me most ardently! most ardently!!! That pride and prejudice quote sent my stomach in to sizzles!!" Anne paced back and forth at the end of Diana's large bedroom, Diana sat on her bed giggling in delight at Annes revelation.

"So when are you going to get to the part when you kissed?"

Anne gawped at Diana as she burst into laughter.

"Diana Barry how dare you assume i did anything of the scandalous sort!" Anne attempted to hold back a smile.

"Well i know how passionate you and Gilbert can get so i can only assume you kissed romantically and then you got all flustered and did your classic Anne move where you run away and then you came here." Diana shrugged.

Anne blushed harshly.
"How did you-"

Diana grinned wildly. "Bosom friends just know these things Anne."

"I don't always run away Diana Barry!" Anne scolded.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night little miss Cuthbert." Diana giggled as Anne huffed.

"Anyway, was it a good kiss?" Diana smiled cheekily.

Anne couldn't help but break into a slight giggle. "yes! yes it was really good!"

Diana began to make smooching noises which sent them both into laughter.

They laughed for a while before Anne stopped and sighed before she came and flopped down atop of Diana's bed.

"Oh Diana i'm so confused. What do i do now? What's going to happen to our friendship? Oh this is disastrous! but it's also splendid! but i don't know if i like him back? do i like him back? do i LOVE him back? i always thought he was dreadfully handsome and smart and kind oh and his chin is simply gorgeous as well as those curls. oh and when he looks at me i feel as if i'm about to burst into song and when he smiles i want to fly into the sky." Anne paused in sudden realisation. She hasn't ever told anyone about those feelings, she's not even sure she even told herself.

Anne glanced at Diana. Shock was evident on both their faces.

"Oh Anne Shirley Cuthbert, you're in it deep now darling."
