The grand opening of the bakery was a success, and Kyra couldn't be prouder for them. The small town in Colorado was buzzing about it for the rest of the weekend, and even a small article was written about it in the newspaper.

So overall, Kyra would've said everything had gone positively. However, there was just one little problem.

"He's- He's gonna be working here? Part time?!"

"Well, yes, honey. What did you expect? We're gaining more customers and Angellic can't work yet, so I offered him the job,"

"What about me? You could've asked me!" Kyra exclaimed.

"Don't be difficult. You and I both know Noah is a fantastic baker. We all would greatly appreciate having him here. And he's just lovely, isn't he?"

Yes, Kyra thought exasperatedly, He is lovely.

As Mrs. Ramos walked away,  Angeles made her entrance. It was Monday morning, and they were all getting ready to head to school.

"Isn't that great, Kyra?" She said excitedly, "Your going to be able to see your crush all the time!"

"But I'm not going to be able to focus with him around! I'll end up actually cutting off my finger and splattering my blood all over the dough or some shit like that."

Angeles cringed. "Okay, morbid."

"Says the one who's going to be watching a horror movie by herself this Friday," Kyra rolled her eyes.

"Because I know you won't go with me! And I really wanted to see this one..." She pouted.

"I'm sorry, Angeles, but I do not fuck with scary movies- aAAAHH!"

Angeles turned to see her brother, who had startled Kyra by jabbing her in the sides.

"JOSE COME UP BEHIND ME ONE MORE TIME AND I WILL FUCKING MURDER YOU-"

Jose howled with laughter, extremely satisfied with this reaction. He wiped a few hysteric tears from his eyes and said, "That was too easy, oh my god."

"UGH, I'm not dealing with this," She huffed before walking ahead of the two siblings.

Angeles and Jose glanced at each other, then back to Kyra, and burst into more laughter.

Angeles was walking to detention, as usual, when she heard some shouting voices from a nearby classroom. It was between a teacher (who she could vaguely identify as Mr. Riggs by his voice...) and a student, so she couldn't help but eavesdrop.

"This is the fifteenth time that you've failed to turn in one of your assignments, Axl. Fifteenth time. I will have no choice but to fail you if you keep on like this."

"Okay, so do it then! Teachers at this school don't understand that some of us have a family to take care of-"

"That is no reason for you to not complete a few simple tasks, sir. Any family problems you are having should be discussed with the school counselor. I'm sure we'd be able to help."

"God, stop acting like you care. None of you do," He scoffed, "Look, my brother is sick. Really sick. And if I don't take care of him, then my parents won't, and then I- I don't know what will happen-"
