" WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU ANSWER OUR CALLS?!"

I winced as I pulled my face away from the phone.

As soon as we got back to the apartment, I excused myself to make some calls back home. The barrier around the den had blocked all outside connect from me and whoever tried to get in touch with me. So it wasn't until we were completely out of the barrier that the phone in my pocket buzzed for a good two minutes to reveal all of the missed calls and texts from my group of friends.

" I'm sorry you guys. I can explain..." I started off before the phone was grabbed and I could hear an irritated Raven on the phone.

" You better! Brandy kept calling you and when you didn't answer she texted us and the calls wouldn't even get through! We thought the worst and I was so prepared to storm into Simul and murder the bastard who gave you that job."

" Easy now Raven. Cool off." I started and she clicked her tongue at the pun, " If you settle down a bit, I can explain everything properly okay?"

" Fine. So why the hell wouldn't our calls go through?"

" Well I got brought to my employer's Den. Their Alphas wanted to see me." I started off and I hear the phone get passed around again, this time to Avery.

" Alphas? As in more than one? That's quite a rare thing to hear. There's usually only one." Avery stated and I couldn't blame her for her doubt.

" I know it's rare but that's what they said. The rest of den listens to them both too. Everything is under their watchful eyes. I went there because they wanted to make sure that my employer's picked the right person I guess." I laid flat down onto the bed, back pressed against the sheets.

" So what did they say?" Brandy asked, clearly from across the room.

" They approved of me and as long as I'm working for these two, I'm allowed to go back to the den on my own as much and as long as I choose to." I explained as I waited for Avery to respond.

" It sounds like they're extending your range in whereof you can go. You spent the night there, Amani? I mean in the Den?"

" Yeah I did."

" So they scented you." Avery said in a matter of fact tone, finally understanding the whole ordeal.

" Wait I don't get it." Brandy said as I can hear Raven mumbles, explaining it to her in the background.

" Wait a minute! You wasn't forced to have sex with them were you?!" Avery yelled and I could feel my face heat up once more.

"No! I just slept in the same bed as them and that's all! I'm still a walking, talking virgin." I rambled as Avery laughed.

" Okay good. I just had to check, but it's good to know that they potentially have a good head on those vampires bodies of theirs. But is that all that happened? You met the Alphas, stayed the night and that's just it?" Avery asked me, trying to draw information out of me.

I laid there and tried to think about anything as that happened and my mind drifted back to that bite.
