Bain sat in his office, flipping through his messages as he awaited updates from doctors working in the Agriculture department. Despite its name, the Agriculture department of Polaris was more than just farming - it was, in fact, specializing in Biology. They worked in horticulture, genetics, toxicology... The list of specializations was vast, as to be expected from a large station such as Polaris. However, at the moment, only the Medical section of his department held his interest. He needed the information his prisoner held, and eighty hours after showing them to their room, he was coming up empty-handed.
What will Nols say?
What if I'm wrong?
I cannot allow myself to fail.
Pessimistic thoughts danced around his mind, poking at him and taunting with twisted smiles as they watched him squirm helplessly in his place. However, one thought hit harder than most:
Now the prisoner's fate is sealed.
You have no choice but to kill him.
What happened to avoiding bloodshed?
Bain narrowed his eyes on the terminal on his desk, desperate to escape his doubts when the terminal pinged. A new message appeared at the top of the list.

Bain froze as he read the message, scrolling through it hopelessly for more details. His body tensed in anticipation as he looked to the door, which sat undisturbed. Besides the recording of gentle rain, the room went silent.
A red, bipedal reptile stepped down a ramp, into a room with walls and floors covered in dark tiles containing glitters and swirls like small galaxies. The reptile held a box in its hands, a tentacle-like appendage on the back of its head holding a small device in her peripherals that projected an arrow before her.
Artemir was a proud Eshek, hailing from a family of soldiers that traced back generations, and here she was doing courier duty for Lord Nols. A fountain of untapped potential left to rot with busywork, an indirect offensive being carried out by one who wished nothing more than to die on the battlefield in the name of her country. She scowled at the box as she walked, a low growl escaping her teeth that unsettled the protogen working on the station. A red, horned beast with horned tails and a vicious look would bring the thought of devils, demons, and fiends to most species, and her ferocious appearance was yet another point of pride for Artemir.
