Chapter Thirteen: Snake Talk

Seven days after Emily's execution, every royal and spy went to the Etherion Palace.   

"Kayla!" Jungkook greeted Makenzie as the happy family exited the carriage.

    "Since when have you two become friends?" Lola said as she exited her carriage with Jin, Hoseok and Namjoon.

    "We write sometimes." Jungkook said, giving his signature bunny smile.

    "Where's Falon?" Makenzie asked looking around for her friend.

"She's getting ready.." Jungkook spoke as he led all of them in the palace.

"Already?" Lola asked.

"Of course!" Jungkook said giving Lola a bunny smile which she couldn't help but smile back.
Jungkook looked to Makenzie and also gave her a smile which she gave in return. Jungkook's smile faded once he saw the purple bruises around her neck. He kept quiet until everyone left to their room.

    "What happened to your neck." Jungkook asked.

"Long story..." Makenzie sighed but Jungkook held her hand. Jungkook gave her a look and told her, "Tell me, please."    

    She looked at his hand for a little bit before sighing, "I was strangled. I was so close to death, it was terrifying."

    "My god!" Jungkook gasped, "Thank god you're alive!"

    He squeezed her hand a little bit, looking down at his hands holding hers and then looked back up to Makenzie.

    "Kayla.. Please forgive me for everything I've done.." Jungkook said bringing her hand up to his lips and barley kissing her hand.

    Mackenzie gave Jungkook a small smile she took her hand back. Jungkook looked into her eyes as she spoke in a sweet, calming tone, "Jeon Jungkook, It is all in the past! You have grown and changed a lot since I met you and along with your wife I think this kingdom is in very good hands." With that Jungkook nodded as they both got up.

    Both of them walked down the corridors. They had little conversations here and there but nothing to big all together. They stopped at Makenzie's bedroom door where she is sharing with her husband and daughter.

"I will see you this evening, duchess." He bowed to her before walking away. She turned to face the door and turned the handle of the door, and walked in.
In the side of the room Sooki and Taehyung were sparring with little toy wooden swords.

The door made a click when it shut and both of them stopped playing.

"Mommy!" Sooki yelled as she dropped her sword to run into Makenzie's arms, giving her a hug.

    "Sooki, my baby girl!" Makenzie said picking up Sooki and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

    She looked at Taehyung who was still in the same place as when she walked in.

    "Hi, Tae!" She said giddily with a smile on her face. However, he said nothing in response. Makenzie noticed his expression but thought nothing of it.

    "Did you lose your voice? Do I need to get a doctor?" She said laughing nervously. Taehyung just shook his head and Makenzies smile faded.

    "What's wrong?" Makenzie asked as she took a step closer, Sooki still in her arms.

    "Are you seeing someone else?" Taehyung said his voice cracked. Makenzies eyes widened as she took a few steps closer to Taehyung.

    "W-What are you talking about?" Makenzie said.
    "I saw you with Jungkook!" Taehyung yelled, "I saw you with Prince Jungkook! Do you think I wouldnt find out!"
