"So, where's your chalk?" Zack says, getting up from my bed.
I point to a medium sized white box on my writer's desk, "In that box."
"Sweet," he says, walking to the desk and picking the box up. He opens it to see all the different colors, "Awesome." Then he walks over to the wall beside the door, sits down criss-crossed, and puts the box beside him. He pulls out a green and starts to draw.
I get up and walk over to him, "Mind if I join you?"
"Not at all," he smiles and pats the spot next to him.
I sit down beside him criss-crossed and grab a blue chalk.
"Well, you guys have fun. I have to get home to finish up some homework," Randy says and leaves.
"There goes my ride," Zack says.
I laugh, "You live on the next street. You can just walk."
"But I don't want toooooo," he whines.
"I'll take you home later," I ruffle his hair.
He shoos my hand away and scrunches his nose, "Don't do that."
I giggle at how adorable he looks, "No promises."
He chuckles and shakes his head before going back to the drawing. We're drawing a picture together if I haven't made that clear yet.
After a few minutes I grab a yellow, "Wanna play 20 questions?"
"Sure, I'll start," Zack says. "What's your favorite color?"
"I don't really have one. But if I had to choose, probably black," I say thoughtfully.
"Hmm. Like all the colors mixed together?" he asks.
I look at him and tilt my head with a smile, "Yeah. I never thought about it that way."
He smiles at me, "Your turn."
I shake my head, I'd been starting again, "Umm. When's your birthday?"
"September 26th," he says.
That's 2 weeks from now, I think. Perfect. "Awesome. Your turn."
"Favorite animal?"
"Penguins," I say almost immediately.
He chuckles, "You really like penguins, don't you?"
I nod my head vigorously and point to the giant stuffed penguin sitting in the corner beside my bed.
"Woah. How'd I miss that?" he laughs, grabbing a red.
"Maybe you need the glasses instead of Randy," I laugh.
He glares at me playfully, "Your turn."
I stop laughing, "Favorite movie?"
"Punisher," he says.
I look at him, "I've heard of it but I've never watched it."
His eyes go big, "What?!"
I laugh nervously and scratch the back of my neck, "Yeah."
"We have to watch it sometime," he says. Then his eyes go wide and he starts bouncing up and down like a little kid, "Let's have a sleep over tomorrow! Randy and Ashley can come!"
I laugh, "Sounds like a plan."
"Awesome," he says.
We forgot about 20 questions and finished up the drawing after about 15 minutes.
We put the chalk back in the box and back away from the wall and look at it. It's a red rose and in the back ground, a sunset. It looks amazing.
"That's a beautiful rose. I thought you said you weren't that good?" I say as more of a question.
He shrugs, "I didn't believe I was. I guess just being with you helped bring it out." He smiles and looks at me, "My inspiration."
I blush and look down.
I feel his fingers gently push my chin up and bring my eyes to his, "I've always known I was a great artist. Even if I didn't believe it. I just needed someone to bring out my full potential. And you did that. Thank you."
I smile nervously at how close our faces are. "You're welcome," I whisper, butterflies go crazy in my stomach.
The next thing I know, his warm and soft lips are on mine. After a moment of shock, I begin to kiss back.
His lips taste like spearmint, I think.
After a few minutes we pull away to breathe, our foreheads pressed together, "Woah."
