Scientist Sawyer" The past has no power over the present moment." - Eckhart Tolle
Cold.
My brain feels fuzzy. And cold
My brain?
My body enters into my consciousness. I slowly feel my torso, my arms, and legs. I start to feel a prickling in my neck, and in my wrists. My muscles and nerves begin to realize the pain and try to move, but the cold prevents it.
I open my eyes with much trial. My eyes finally flutter open and see a bright light above me in a small window. I let my eyes follow around. I'm in a small space. My breath gets heavier, getting desperate to escape. I feel the ice wrap around my entire body, but I feel some drop on my bare feet. Am I melting? Something unclicks around my wrists. I finally feel my limbs regain strength. I command my wrist to move.
I see a handle on the right side and I push. Light overpowers me. The light becomes too much and I try to block it, but my legs do not have any strength. So I fall down.
I trip over a pedestal of some sort and land on white floor. My body starts to shiver uncontrollably.
" Hey guys, she's out! She hasn't completed transition yet! I need medical assistance immediately!" A voice shouts a little too loud for me. I see a blurry vision of someone grabbing a machine and putting it behind my neck. I feel a sharp sting, on the back of my neck. What was that?
I lay still on the floor, the cold overwhelming me. I can't stop shivering, yet the ice is slowing melting off me. I see some red dots on my forearms, holes from needles. I swallow, breathing really fast, trying to warm me up faster.
I see a body tower over me, but I am too tired to look up.
" Ma'am are you alright? Do you know who you are?" The thought boggles my mind. Do I know who I am? I don't know my name! I don't know my age, what I even look like! The voice shouts louder.
" We've got a code 9! Subject's mind is slow to respond. I need that medical assistance yesterday!" I feel something heavy fall on my body and I am wrapped in warmth. I still have no control over my body as it shivers and my teeth chatter.
I feel my eyes close as voices and more bodies surround mine. Who am I?
When my mind comes to consciousness again, I don't feel cold. Instead I feel soft and warm. I slowly open my eyes and find myself in a low lit room. I get out of my bed, wrapping my body in my blanket in fear of the warmth fleeing me.
My body still has an ache lingering. I stop myself as I see a reflection, my reflection.
I see red hair, falling down in front of my face, with freckles dancing around my pale skin. I rub my hand up and down my forearm, feeling the new smoothness. I look at my clothes, a skirt and a tight buttoned up blouse. This looks very weird. But yet it seems normal.
Is this who I am? Why can't I remember anything?
Suddenly a flash of a memory enters my head.
" Sawyer, you did it! You won the science fair! Oh, I am so proud of you sweetie! One day I am going to be calling you Scientist Sawyer!" I hear my high pitched laugh as someone who I am assuming is my mother, wraps me in a hug.
Sawyer.
My name is Sawyer.
I am Sawyer, a scientist who has fare skin, red hair and is cold.
