The Lion house had found themselves in the heart of the field. The beads of sweat and nervous chatter rose around them except from two. Once Dimitri gave him orders they were off, leaving the pack to get a taste of blood. Flayn was missing and the Arch Bishop had given the blue lion house the task to rescue her.
It was easy for Felix on the battlefield, he had the training to be able to excel. Only it was easier for her. She flew through opponents and cleared the path for her companions farther behind her. Felix was struggling to keep up with her. They hadn't talked since she walked out on their last math. He wanted to talk to her, more than fighting at that moment, but clearly it wasn't there right time.
That was when Felix saw a Knight in all black. He stood tall on his death course. His black mask with horns allowed him to be extremely intimidating. Not for Felix. He wanted to finally have a challenge. He started head towards the knight when he was blocked. Em stood in his path with a look of desperation.
"No, Felix," she begged. He tried to push past her.
"What do you mean? Come on we can take him!" he moved past her.
"No we can't." That's when he stopped in his tracks. He turned to her and finally understood. She could take down anyone, so if she was saying no, then clearly this opponent would be the death of them. Almost quite literally. "Please, Felix," she begged. He walked to her and nodded his head.
"I understand," he explained. He wanted to grab onto him but they were on the field. Even when they were off, he didn't know how to act around her. "Who is he?"
"I've heard rumors. Death Knight, they call him," she explained as they made sure they were out of his line of sight. "We aren't strong enough right now. He'll go away when he sees that there is no 'fun'. He sees death as fun." Her face showed how disgusted she was and he wanted to comfort her.
"Felix, Em," Dimitri said as he finally caught up to them. "We found Flayn," he added. He looked past them and was about to press onto the path of Death when they both stopped him.
"We'll have a chance to kill him but today that won't be our fate," Felix explained and glanced at Em.
"It's not like you, Felix, to avoid a fight," Dimitri questioned. Felix still never broke eye contact with Em while he responded.
"I was advised not to, and I trust the messenger." Dimitri didn't press on and they waited till they saw the death night practically portal himself out when the rest of his company was dead. Dimitri left them to get the rest of his men before they all had to return back to the Monastery.
"Thank you," Em said as they started to head back.
"For what?"
"For trusting me," she explained.
"I wish you trusted me," Felix sighed. She glanced at her path as he watched her.
"Fine, you can call me Emery. But only in private!" she stated and he bursted out laughing. That was the first time Em had ever seen him laugh. "What is so funny?"
"I enjoy calling you Emery but that wasn't what I meant. I meant that I wish you wouldn't hide your past. I'd like to think that we are ... friends," he explained. Hesitating on the last word.
"Okay, I can try but you have to stop pressing it," she demanded. He nodded his head and they shook hands.
"Tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow."
