So, I struggle with anxiety and insomnia. So when night time comes around, everything seems to heighten. These are my tips and tricks to help with anxiety and insomnia, to help fall asleep better.
° Set an alarm on your phone earlier before you should go to bed. Like set the alarm 30 minutes before you should go to sleep. Also with when you make the alarm, set an reminder to get ready for bed.
°Start off by putting away all your electronics. Staring at bright lights on your phone and tv would prevent you from feeling less tired, give migraines and trouble to sleep.
° Next, put on comfortable pj's. When you wear tight fitting and less breathable clothing, you feel more constricted, raising your anxiety and feeling a trouble of trying to sleep. When you put something baggy, soft and comfy on, its gives you a better nights sleep and is more calming.
° One thing I do before sleep is to drink herbal tea, like Chamomile and ashwagandha. Both helps with anxiety and promotes a better sleep. Hot tea is calming in itself , like getting a warm glass of milk.
° If you really didn't do anything productive today and was quite lazy, you have all this energy that hasn't been used. Meaning staying awake and not being tired at even 3am. So i recommend doing a simple workout or yoga that won't stress your muscles. Working out means using your energy, when you don't have much energy left you feel tired and fatigue. Working out and yoga helps with relieving stress and anxiety, all in all falling asleep quicker and giving you a better sleep.
° I recommend reading a book, doing a crossword puzzle, studying, or drawing. That causes you to focus and using your mental energy. Doing that eases stress and anxiety helping you sleep quickly and wake up restored.
° Essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus and rose
