But as I thought, the memory couldn't help but surface. When we were at Noah's safe house, just before I revealed I was awake, I heard her. She was talking to Noah ,a world renowned assassin, with familiarity. She knows him.

At this I walked fully into the room falling into a seat beside Grant. The two never acknowledged me, eyes glued to the screen.

Time passed as I sat flicking through my phone mindlessly. As much as I tried to, I couldn't concentrate on anything. There was a sense of unease swirling around my brain, yet I couldn't figure out what it was from. Everyone in the gang I had known for years so they were trusted, Scarlett was the only new member and she couldn't of been a threat because she's had the opportunity to hurt both me and the rest of the gang and hasn't. The Russians are at war with us and they have yet to make any serious moves but planting a spy would be a decent one.

I tried to banish the thought from my head telling myself that the overwhelming anxiety was because of the Russians immanent frontal attack not some deceitful plant.

Really though not even the Bratva could harm anyone in the gang house it was completely off the radar. Nobody knew of any of its weaknesses and nobody had ever come close to attacking the place. That meant nobody knew where the house was........ no one except the Eagles.

I'd suspicions of them being on to us for a while, there gangs territory bordered ours and to expand they had to either take down the Italian Mafia (who were rumoured to be related to the Eagles leader) or us. I did kinda piss the Eagles off as well, our meeting had ended in a huge fight. They had every reason to attack us but if they'd found the compound we'd already be dead.

I physically shook my head getting up from the couch. "I'm going for a run." I told Scarlett and Grant, heading up the stairs to change into some work out gear.

***time skip***

The wind was cold as I ran against it, the swishing of trees only interrupted by the sound of my foot hitting the gravel path. Out here there was nothing but nature, all coexisting trees reaching up towards the sky birds settling in their nests and rabbits scampering home at the sound of my movements.

All around me it was peaceful but inside a storm raged, thoughts and worry's rushing through m head one after the other ; what am I gonna do about the Russians, what if someone dies, what if Grant dies, how is the war gonna effect business.. The list went on and on, as a leader my whole job was to keep my people safe and I was the one bringing a war to them, I was the one asking them to die. My footsteps picked up speed. What was I supposed to say to their family's? Telling their children that their Daddy died because I told him to? Telling them that their mummy's never going to come back. My heart rate speed up faster alongside my breathing. What would I do as I looked into their watery eyes and told them they were orphans.

I stoped running, my breathing heavy as I realised where I was. Subconsciously as I'd jogged my brain had lead me here. Here where the old statue rotted away, vines crawling up the limestone wrapping around the figure. I fell to my knees, furiously ripping at the ivy , tearing it away from the sculpture.

Everything hurt by the time I was finished. My fingers were red raw, my head pounded and my heart cried out in pain. Only I remembered, only me. I'd been a child, only a baby when it had happened, Grant was too young to remember but I knew. She was so beautiful, so kind and loving. She was my everything. My happy place.

When she along with my parents had died Grant and I were taken in by Ryder and River the past gang leaders. As a tribute to her and my parents they'd built this angel stature. An angle that looked exactly like my big sister Sarah.
