The meadows were gorgeous- blooming red flowers were everywhere, and lazy spirits floated around without a care in the world. A patch of woods grew tall and strong, with brilliantly green leaves swaying in the breeze and yellow blooms on the branches.
Korra leaned her head on her girlfriend's shoulder. It was the perfect vacation, and it was long-due, especially after the whole Kuvira debacle. Everyone needed to get their minds off of the mess in Republic City and the fact that the whole Earth Empire had collapsed. But even though Kuvira was imprisoned, thousands of people were still homeless. As the Avatar, Korra had a responsibility to them.
"What are you thinking about? Don't tell me you're guilt-tripping yourself into going back again. We've talked about this," Asami said, leaning forward and cupping Korra's face in her hands. "Even the Avatar needs breaks. Come on, let's go somewhere else. As much as I love pretty fields, I want to make the most of this vacation with you."
Asami was gorgeous. She had the most beautiful jet black waves in her long hair and green eyes with purple eyeshadow on. But Asami was also fierce and unrelenting and the best partner Korra could ask for.
On a whim, Korra leaned forward and brushed a kiss against Asami's lips. "You're right. Let's go have some fun!"
The girls traipsed through the Spirit World meadows.
"Hey, Korra- can I ask you something?" Asami asked nonchalantly, tucking a strand of hair back and looking Korra in the eye.
Korra shrugged with a nod, picking up a blue blossom and tucking it in Asami's hair.
"I want to host a funeral for my dad. Would you- would you help me?" Asami whispered, almost choking on her words.
Korra saw her girlfriend's eyes filled with tears and she remembered the pain she felt when she thought Zaheer killed her father. Korra threw her arms around Asami.
"Of course I will, Asami. Whatever you choose, I'll be here for you."
Asami gave her a watery smile and hugged her tightly. "Thank you," She said. "It means a lot."
The two girls walked through the woods, fingers intertwined until they stopped at a clearing with a small hut and spirits buzzing around a table.
Korra gasped and Asami immediately said, "Are you okay? Korra?"
Korra waved her away. "Yeah, I'm okay. But I've been here before! And look who it is!"
Out of the hut came a kindly old man with a potbelly and a white beard.
"Iroh!" Korra called, running up to him and giving him a big hug.
The old man smiled at her warmly and waved at Asami. "Come, girls, let's sit down and have some tea."
Korra sat down at the wooden table, noticing the teapot from the last time she came to see Iroh. He poured both of them some piping hot Jasmine tea into elegant teacups.
"How have you two been doing?" Iroh asked, sipping from his tea. "Don't tell me there's more unrest in the physical world," He said with a hearty laugh.
Asami smiled. "Well, Kuvira's imprisoned and that's thankfully over. Korra and I wanted to take a short vacation... to take our minds off of the drama." She said.
Iroh nodded. "You two deserve a break. And... are you both dating?"
Korra and Asami both blushed and nodded.
"We haven't told many people yet," Korra admitted. "But yes, we are!" She squeezed Asami's hand.
The three companions laughed and told stories for a while until they lulled into a comfortable silence.
