"New, wide-rimmed hats on sale today! The best place in all of the Outer Ring!"

Jin was in the back of her mother's stall, washing their clothes with a bucket and some warm water while her mother sold their goods.

"Jin! Jin, you're here!" This was a new voice, and Jin turned around to see two girls: the girl who spoke had long, flowing brown hair and a twinkle in her eyes while the other girl was taller and stronger, with a short, dark hair cut.

"Seo-Ha! Panza!" Jin said, a smile splitting her face. "Are you two here to help me out with organizing the hats?"

"That's not why we came, but I suppose it won't hurt to help out," Panza grumbled, tucking a strand of black hair behind her ears.

"Jin, you won't believe who came to Ba Sing Se!" Seo-Ha exclaimed excitedly.

Jin neatly folded the last of the clothes in her pile and turned towards her friends. "Well, the Avatar already made us a visit. I can't imagine who else would make you this excited."

Seo-Ha frowned. "Well, yes, but- but it's the Kyoshi Warriors!"

Jin knew how much her friend idolized the female warriors. Seo-Ha practically worshipped them.

"Have you seen them yet?" She asked.

Panza stomped on the ground, earthbending a stool for her to rest her feet on. "Not yet. That's why we came here. King Kuei is holding a small procession in their honor, so you need to hurry if you want to see them too. Plus, what Seo-Ha failed to mention is that the Fire Lord is here. That's why his bodyguards came too. She's just obsessed with the Kyoshi Warriors, as you know." Panga side-stepped Seo-Ha's smack on the arm.

Jin shrugged, "Mother will be fine on her own for a little bit. I suppose I can come for an hour or so!"

The two girls stood up and waited for Jin outside of the stall.

"Mother, I'm going with Panza and Seo-Ha to a procession in the streets for a little bit. I'll be back soon!" Jin called, darting outside and grabbing Panza's hand.

The streets of the Outer Ring were crowded as usual. People milled about, ignoring the street vendors who tried to sell the most atrociously promoted products. Jin could hear a teenage boy repeatedly trying to make an aggravated vendor stop pestering him to buy a supposed love potion, insisting he already had a girlfriend.

Sparakeets and goat-dogs also roamed the streets freely, often causing arguments amongst vendors and little kids.

The friends neared a large fountain, where the crowd had started to thicken a little more. Jin gazed at it, feeling memories resurface.

This was where she had gone on her first date ever, with that cute boy from his uncle's tea shop. Lee. He'd lit each of the lanterns for her and they- they had even shared a kiss. Two kisses, actually. Jin blushed just to think of him.

But he'd left, and she never saw him again. She'd never been to that tea shop since.

"Thinking of someone special?" Seo-Ha teased, nudging her friend.

Jin startled. How did she know- oh, right. The fountains had soon become a popular spot for dates and meeting your significant others. Even Seo-Ha had been here with quite a few girls.

"The last time I came here, it was with Amana," Seo-Ha said dreamily. Amana had been her close friend- maybe more than just a friend- but once it was formed, she had moved to Republic City, where Amana herself, a nonbender, her Fire Nation mother, and her earthbending father would be more accepted as a family.

Panza elbowed the two other girls, ignoring their cries of outrage. "The procession is starting, look! The first Kyoshi Warrior!"

Seo-Ha was jumping up and down trying to get a look, but unable to- probably because of the massive amount of people in the streets. And the fact that she was very short.

Panza quickly earthbended a step for Seo-Ha to get a better look at the warriors.

"She's- she's so pretty! And so regal, and agile-" Seo-Ha gushed about one of the warriors. "Look at her braid! And those dresses look so deadly!"

Jin hung back a little bit, grabbing Panza's hand as to not get lost. "Hey, Panza?"

Panza turned towards her. "Yeah? Did you rethink my offer about the blind date with my cousin? I promise he doesn't pick his nose that often!"

Jin giggled but shook her head. "I think I'll pass on that. But do you think we could get some tea before I go back to Mother? There'll be a little more time, after all. And not just any tea! You two have to go to 'The Jasmine Dragon'. It's the best tea in all of Ba Sing Se!"

Panza shrugged. "Sure, why not? I'll come as long as you figure out how to get Seo-Ha to shut up about the Kyoshi Warriors."

"But they're so amazing-" Seo-Ha started.

Panza covered her ears. "Oh, shut up already! We get it!"

"Hey, look!" Someone from the crowd shouted. "It's Fire Lord Zuko!"

Jin looked up, ready to see a regal-looking man or something like that. She'd heard all the stories of how Zuko was once hunting the Avatar and trying to kill him. But now he was a just Fire Lord who would bring honor to the Fire Nation and fix everything his father and grandfather did to hurt the other nations.

Well, they'd better. Jin had lost too much from the War. So many people had lost too much from the War, and Fire Lord Zuko had to fix all the harm the Fire Nation did.

But when Jin looked up, she didn't see an unfamiliar face. Because staring out and smiling at the crowds was- it was Lee. The boy who toyed with her heart. Her first date.

Which meant that she had dated the Fire Lord.
