The following day, Roy was absent from school. Zach recalled overhearing him during a phone conversation with Clair, which sparked concern that something might have occurred between them. During lunch break, he gathered his friends and led them to Clair's classroom to invite her to join them.
"Should we also invite Nally?" Calliso asked as they strolled down the hallway.
"Yes," Zach replied.
"How come you've got two beautiful girls fighting over you while we don't even have one?" Jacksen queried, a hint of frustration in his tone.
Calliso narrowed his eyes at him. "What happened to all those girls you're always talking about?"
Jacksen sighed. "Well... that's on them. They just lost a big fish."
"You're the big fish?" Calliso asked, narrowing his eyes again.
Jacksen stopped walking and struck a bodybuilder pose.
"Please stop," Calliso said flatly. "You might be a fish, but definitely not a big one."
"Could you, for once, be a supportive friend?" Jacksen shot back.
Ignoring them, Zach quickened his pace. As they reached the theater's entrance, they encountered a throng of students bustling inside, all appearing eager and curious.
"What's happening over there?" Jacksen inquired.
Zach shrugged. "I'm not sure."
"Hey, what's happening inside?" Jacksen asked a fellow student heading towards the theater.
"It's the new girl. You've heard about her, right? She just got here yesterday, but she's already the talk of the school. She's about to perform on stage. Rumor has it she's incredibly talented." the guy replied before hurrying away.
Jacksen glanced at Zach and Calliso. "Is he talking about Clair?" he asked them uncertainly.
"Go see what's happening. I'll go look for her in their classroom," Calliso suggested before walking away.
Zach and Jacksen made their way into the theater. They noticed a gathering near the stage. Within moments, the sound of piano music filled the air.
Jacksen nudged Zach. "Look, it's Clair. It's really her."
As Zach turned his gaze towards the stage, he spotted a white piano positioned at the center, flanked by three individuals who appeared to be music instructors. And there she was-Clair, playing the piano.
"Hey, let's head up there," Jacksen suggested, motioning towards the balcony on the second floor.
They ascended the stairs and leaned over the railing, peering down at the stage below.
"Wow... How is she playing so fast without making a single mistake, with her eyes closed?" Jacksen exclaimed, watching Clair in awe.
Calliso arrived, slightly out of breath. "Yeah... She's the new girl they mentioned performing on stage," he informed them, trying to catch his breath.
"Shh," Jacksen cut in, raising a hand for silence as he found himself unexpectedly drawn to the music.
